CAN UNTREATED OVARIAN CYSTS CAUSE INFERTILITY?  by

 Lyn Taylor
10/12/2008 at 10:27
There’s no clear cut answer to whether untreated ovarian cysts can cause infertility because each persons system handles and reacts to conditions differently. However if you suspect that you may have ovarian cysts then its best to get checked out so that the doctor can confirm it and you can start an ovarian cyst treatment plan.

If you have small cysts then they may disappear on there own and not cause you any trouble. However, if they get worse and increase in size the pain is unbearable and it may make conceiving more difficult.

If your condition starts to get worse then you’ll realize that you aren’t able to leave your ovarian cysts untreated for much longer. At first I thought it was period cramps but when I started getting pains in my back and legs etc I knew I had to get rid of the ovarian cysts.

I started taking pain relief medication thinking that if I dulled down the pain I could suffer the condition longer to see if the cysts would eventually go away on their own. I wasn’t prepared for the sickness feeling and lack of energy. I felt totally hopeless!

Many woman have cysts at some point in their lives and most are benign but if you leave them untreated then a harmful cyst can develop and cause further problems. The quicker you start an ovarian cyst treatment the better.

The main reason I left my ovarian cysts untreated for a while was because I was scared of having to ...

HOW DID I END UP WITH A YEAST INFECTION?  by

 Jessica D Dale
10/12/2008 at 10:21
There are many possible ways you could have gotten a yeast infection. To start I just wanted to clarify one of the big myths around yeast infections, yes you can get it if you have never had sexual intercourse. Of course direct contact will increase your likelihood of catching a yeast infection, but even indirect exposure to the yeast bacteria such as sharing a towel with someone can give you a yeast infection

Environmental factors play a major role in why people get yeast infections because they weaken the immune system and make it easier for yeast infection to thrive. Factors include secondhand smoke, animal hair, dust, sprays, chemicals and mold. Allergies even are a possible factor. Ultimately, it is a compromised immune system can leads to a yeast infection.

So, let’s talk about other ways your immune system can be compromised. Fatigue, stress, a poor diet all pull a negative toll on your body and thus weaken your immune system. By strengthening your diet, getting rid of stressors in your life and sleeping properly you will do wonders for your yeast infection.

The biggest contributors to reoccurring yeast infections without people’s knowledge are drugs. The top 3 are antibiotics, birth control pills and believe it or not, doctor prescribed yeast infection drugs! Constantly treating your yeast infection, especially with over the counter drugs will not work. Prescribed medication through a doctor makes the fungus more resistant and harder for your body to fight in the long run. If you have taken any ...

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CANDIDA AND A YEAST INFECTION  by

 Jessica D Dale
10/12/2008 at 10:19
What is a Yeast Infection & Candida?

A yeast infection is a symptom of a deeper underlying problem in your body called Candidiasis or Candida for short. Candida manifests from an internal overgrowth of the fungus in your body known as Candida Albicans. Unfortunately, when you have a yeast infection in a specific region it means that you have it elsewhere as well. This is why a full approach that deals with the entire body is crucial to full recovery. Aside from localized infections, Candida affects your mental/ emotional state, digestion, breathing, weight, and your skin among other things.

More on Candida

Candida overgrowth occurs in the intestinal tract where the majority of bacteria inside you thrive. It feeds on sugar and when you eat too much sugar, the Candida population is disrupted. When the healthy population of the fungus Candida Albicans is disrupted, it multiplies quickly and spreads out to other areas, including the vagina, which then causes a yeast infection.

The majority of the population has Candida and doesn’t even know it. Why do I say this? It’s because sugar is almost everywhere in the Standard American Diet (SAD); it’s in junk food, highly processed refined foods like white bread, colas, candy etcetera. Unless you are a highly conscious eater, I can guarantee you that you have Candida. Don’t believe me? I have provided a free link below where you can take a survey, whether you are male or female, after reading this article.

Healthy bacteria in your body under normal conditions can ...

WHY DRUGS DON’T CURE YEAST INFECTIONS AND TIPS FOR RELIEF  by

 Jessica D Dale
10/12/2008 at 10:19
Stop the Cause not the Symptoms

Many people don’t know this but a yeast infection is attributed to a host of factors including a poor diet. Actually a yeast infection stems from Candidiasis which is caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida Albicans in our bodies. So to cure your yeast infection permanently and prevent it from reoccurring you must attack the root of the problem Candida. The majority of the population has an overgrowth of Candida and doesn’t even know it. If you aren’t sure whether or not you have it I highly recommend you take the free survey I have provided below. They explain in depth how to treat Candida naturally in depth beyond drugs.

With an endless list of side effects and unknowns surrounding their use, it’s a constant risk anytime you’re use a drug for anything. Ironically, many pharmaceutical drugs actually cause Candida. Antibiotics, birth control pills, steroids and most prescription pills will all kill off the healthy bacteria in your body and allow the fungal overgrowth of Candida. If you have used any of these in the past 2 years you are most likely to have Candida.

Another reason why you cannot use drugs to treat Candida is because they actually make the strains in your body more resilient. The next time your body wants to fight them off its going to have to work harder. So not only so drugs cause Candida, but they weaken your body in the fight against it. Also, drugs do not ...

4 WAYS TO TREAT A YEAST INFECTION NATURALLY  by

 April Kerr
1/17/2008 at 20:36
Here is a fact you may not already know: 75% of women at some point in their lives will have suffered a yeast infection. About half of these women will have it on a reoccurring basis. More than likely you will either have experienced a yeast infect first hand or know some-one who has.

Understanding a Yeast Infection

Like other vaginal infections you will experience burning, redness, swelling and itching. The yeast infection is caused by a fungus known as Candida albicans. It can occur naturally on the skin and other parts of the body.

When the balance in the vagina changes the natural yeast begins to grow. Despite being referred to as an infection it is actually just an over-growth of something that is usually there. Luckily yeast is not dangerous.

How to Treat a Yeast Infection

If you are or have been a sufferer you will know that it is very uncomfortable. The itching may become so painful that walking is difficult. You will find a number of over-the-counter treatments available. Some deal with the infection whilst others deal with the itching. Although these treatments do what they say they do, wouldn’t it be nice if there was a more natural alternative?

First it needs to be understood that the infection has occurred because the balance of the vagina has become out of whack. Restoring the balance simply requires the reintroduction of "good" bacteria.

1. Natural Yogurt - Yogurt contains a lot of good bacteria which is one of the reasons yogurt ...

WHY YOU NEED TO CURE YOUR INTESTINAL YEAST INFECTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE  by

 Clare Richardson
1/17/2008 at 20:35
Nearly all internal yeast infection sufferers aren’t aware of the fact that they should treat their intestinal fungal infection as quickly as possible. It’s not like a vaginal yeast infection where you can suffer a few symptoms for a few days, and then make the decision to cure yourself in a week or so with an OTC anti fungal treatment. An intestinal fungal infection will get more severe the longer it’s left, and will finally infect your bloodstream.

How your intestinal Candida infection starts

Your fungal infection will begin when you start suffering from some mild symptoms such as bloating, gas and indigestion

The next thing is you will begin treating the symptoms not realizing that these symptoms are caused by a fungal infection in your intestines. Even your health practitioner won’t tell you that you are suffering from a bacterial imbalance in your intestines.

Your next step backwards is to be prescribed antacids, or you might just buy them from your local drug store. When you start swallowing these to try and treat your acid indigestion many things start to happen.

Why your stomach acid is important

First the acid you’re neutralizing with your attempted treatment is produced by your stomach to digest your food properly. Taking the antacids means the food you have eaten then makes its way into your intestines undigested. The undigested food then festers, and turns into food for fungus and parasites as you won’t be digesting it any more, they will.

While you’re giving your food to the parasites and fungus ...

CANDIDA AND YEAST  by

 Michael Winicki
1/17/2008 at 20:34
What do you know about Candida and yeast and how it affects your body? It’s important to know that Candida is a type of yeast that occurs naturally in the body in small amounts. Sometimes when conditions cause an overproduction of this yeast in the body, people can become ill or have unwanted side effects. Because these side effects are similar to those of other conditions, the true cause is often mistaken.

You may have heard people say that a woman who eats a daily dose of yogurt can prevent a yeast infection. This is because the type of yeast found in the yogurt helps counterbalance the Candia found in the vaginal areas and prevents and overgrowth which causes the yeast infection. This type of infection of yeast is different from a chronic problem with Candida.

Sometimes newborn babies get thrush which is a type of Candida overgrowth that comes from leftover yeast from the mother. This infection is easily treatable and babies recover fine. Sometimes females with an overgrowth of Candida will get infections in the vaginal area. This is also treatable and usually goes away right away with medication. There are some cases where other people have chronic problems with Candida and yeast.

Some people experience a problem with yeast overgrowth because their immune systems are weak. This could be due to illness, disease or some other health condition. When the body has a weakened immune system it can cause the yeast to grow more rapidly in the body and unwanted ...

IS YOUR YEAST INFECTION WORSE AFTER TREATMENT  by

 Clare Richardson
1/17/2008 at 20:34
5% of women are in the unfortunate position of their yeast infection becoming worse after treatment. If you’re one of these women you’re now suffering from what is known as Chronic yeast infections. Explained below are the reasons why your fungal infection is worse after using an anti Candida treatment.

Resistant yeast

One of the reasons why your vaginal Candida infection has been made worse by the anti fungal treatment is the yeast has become resistant to the active ingredients in the cream or suppository. If you have used the treatment before the yeast will already know how to mutate to defend itself. Antibiotics use is the most common way of creating a stronger strain of yeast. Antibiotics are now the biggest cause of yeast infections because they do more than kill the infection they were intended for.

Antibiotics are good at killing bacteria, but this means they also kill your body’s friendly, beneficial bacteria which are your own natural defense against fungus like the mutated Candida yeast. Without your friendly bacteria protecting your vagina, and the anti fungal OTC treatment upsetting the bacterial balance further the yeast has an easy time re-infecting you. And when it does it comes back stronger, and it is ready to defend itself against the next lot of treatment.

You could have an intestinal yeast infection

Chronic yeast infections can be a symptom of an intestinal yeast infection. Intestinal yeast infections will start off by giving you symptoms that effect your digestive process. These include bloating and acid indigestion. ...

10 SIGNS THAT YOU MAY HAVE CANDIDA INFECTION  by

 Dina Barton
1/17/2008 at 20:33
Candidiasis, commonly known as candida or yeast infection or thrush, is a fungal infection ranging from superficial, such as oral thrush and vaginitis among women and superficial infections of skin and mucosal membranes by Candida causing local inflammation or discomfort common in many human populations, to systemic and potentially life-threatening diseases like those that develop among severely immuno-compromised persons such as cancer, transplant, and AIDS patients, whereas Although frequently associated with female health systems, it can also occur on the male genitals. Children suffer from this ailment during the years between three and nine. If there are white patches around the mouth, then it could be possible that the child is infected with candida infection.

Regardless of age or gender, here are ten common Candida symptoms:

1. Adult onset allergies to foods and/or airborne chemicals with the number of offending substances increasing until an individual becomes so sensitive to the everyday environment that they must live in isolation

2. Incessant fatigue after eating

3. Gastrointestinal or signs of poor digestion such as constipation or diarrhea, gas, bloating, cramps, heartburn, nausea, gastritis and colitis

4. Neurological symptoms such as cravings, irritability, mood swings, headaches, migraines, "fogged-in" feeling, inability to concentrate/mind "wanders off", poor memory, confusion, dizziness, M.S.-like symptoms (slurred speech, loss of muscle co-ordination, vision affected), depression and/or anxiety without apparent cause (often worse after eating), paranoia without apparent cause, not in total control of one’ actions (know right thing to do but unable to execute), mental incompetence, a variety of other behavioral disturbances.

5. Genito-urinary symptoms ...

COMMON MENOPAUSE SYMTPOMS  by

 Cynthia Perkins
1/17/2008 at 20:30
Menopause is a natural phase of every woman’s aging process that is usually marked by a specific set of symptoms. The progression usually runs for several years or more starting with gradual changes in her menstrual cycle and concluding with complete cessation of menstruation.

For some women, this can be a confusing time that incites many questions. Women may wonder, what exactly is menopause and what does it mean? When does it start and end? What menopause symptoms will I have to endure?

While most women will experience menopause between the ages of 40 and 55, some women will enter much sooner or later, for instance a woman can start as early as 30 years of age or not until she reaches the age of 60.

All women are different which makes it difficult to predict when menopause will be reached. However there does seem to be some correlation between mother and daughter. A daughter can generally expect to approach this phase of her life around the same age that her mother did.

The beginning of menopause is also known as Perimenopause or pre-menopause and is usually marked by symptoms that include irregular menstruation, which may consist of longer or shorter periods, as well as lighter or heavier menstrual flow.

Beside the reduction and eventual cessation of menstruation, there are a variety of other menopause symptoms that may occur in varying degrees. They are the result of the hormonal fluctuations that are occurring in a woman’s body at the time of menopause.

A woman’s body produces ...

UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNS OF MENOPAUSE  by

 Richard Smart
1/17/2008 at 20:29
For many women the thought of going through premenopause is a daunting thought, anticipating the hormonal changes that will complete change the way the body functions and how it reacts to external influences. The mood swings, hot flashes and irritability are all caused by the changes the woman’s body goes through during the "change of life" known as menopause.

There are six aspects of a woman’s body that are affected the most during premenopause and women have several alternatives to help deal with them. While many drugs including hormone replacement therapy are available, many natural products as well as lifestyle and diet changes can help relieve some of the suffering of the symptoms.

The instability of the body’s vasomotor system is to blame for hot flashes as well as sleep interruptions. Although there may be other causes to sleep loss, night sweats related to menopausal hot flashes is common. Continual interruption in sleep may be a sign of other problems and the woman should contact a medical professional.

The skeletal system also suffers during menopause causing such issues as joint pain, muscle pain and back pain. Osteoporosis, a loss of bone density may also occur. Although, this usually develops over a longer period of time. Staying away from caffeine as well as phosphorous (often used in carbonated beverages) has been shown to slow the development of this condition.

A loss of elasticity of the skin as well as the skin getting thinner are parts of the skin and soft tissue problems often seen in ...

WOMEN AND BODY FAT  by

 Deborrah Cooper
1/17/2008 at 20:28
Women have more body fat than men--about five percent more. By nature, a woman’s body is developed to protect her and a potential fetus. As a result, women have more enzymes for storing fat and fewer enzymes for burning fat. men also experience more changes in hydration levels than men because of their menstrual cycle, and this can affect body fat measuring, particularly using the bioletrical impedance method (body fat scales and hand held electrical devices).

Retaining fluid may also cause weight to fluctuate day-to-day during this period causing additional variation in the body fat percentage.

Female users of bioelectrical impedance products should be aware of their natural monthly body cycles. Hormonal changes due to pregnancy or menopause may also cause water retention and variations in measuring. Changes in hydration levels can also be due to food, caffeine or alcohol consumption, strenuous exercise, stress or illness, or the taking of prescription drugs.

To successfully monitor progress, women should try to compare weight and body fat percentage measurements taken under the same conditions over a period of time, paying attention to fluctuations caused by menstruation.

Health Risks

Too Little Body Fat

It’s possible to have too little body fat. Women athletes involved in high performance sports that emphasize low body weight and extremely low body fat percentage often experience a decrease in hormones that causes an interruption in the menstrual cycle. The same condition can occur when a woman is anorexic and her body goes into a semi-starvation mode. Over an extended period of time, this can ...

10 NATURAL TIPS FOR MENOPAUSE SYMPTOM RELIEF  by

 Susan Bilheimer
6/19/2007 at 13:41
As I made the journey from premenopause to menopause, I was one of the ’lucky’ ones to experience dozens of seemingly unrelated symptoms. As I went from one specialist to another, none of them connected the dots, leaving me scared and frustrated. Eventually, after a lot of research, I discovered that most of these symptoms were actually hormone-related. Here are a few simple tips to help you find relief from specific symptoms.

One: Breast Pain- Bras are your friend Silly though you may feel at first, wearing a comfortable bra that supports the weight of your breasts 24 hours a day will make you a lot more comfortable. Wearing a stretched out bra or one that is the wrong size can also contribute to your pain. Get fitted for a good supporting daytime bra, and perhaps a sports bra for overnight.

Two: Dry Eyes - Keep the fans off Wind can irritate the eyes. Even while sleeping, a fan blowing on you can dry out your eyes, so you wake up with the lids all gluey.

Three: Back and Neck Pain - Get a Smaller Pocketbook This is no joke. You may be dragging five to 10 pounds on your shoulder. If you’re beginning to experience shoulder/neck pain, try switching to a mini-pocketbook for a few weeks to see if it makes a difference. Whatever doesn’t fit can be carried in two hands. You’re lugging around way too much stuff anyway!

Four: Migraines - Elimination of Migraine Triggers Often, migraines are caused by external ...

At times, false pregnancy tests can baffle expectant parents. Therefore, it is imperative to have profound knowledge about pregnancy tests, how these tests are taken and how accurate these test results can be. At the same time, this article will also focus on the best time for expectant mothers to undergo the tests.

How Do Tests Process Results?

Though the possible way to avoid false pregnancy is through tests, however, instances are not rare when pregnancy tests fail to indicate accurate test results. The good news is that incidents of false test results can be avoidable. Yes, with a little knowledge about the functioning of pregnancy test we can be a wise buyer of the right pregnancy tests kits and prevent false pregnancy test results.

The pregnancy kits available at your nearest pharmacy store measure a particular type of hormone that doctors term as "Human chorionic gonadotropin". The pregnancy tests show different results in response to the different levels of this HCG. Due to varying levels of this hormone, test results seem to vary in early stages of pregnancy. Then you might question what the best time is or phase of pregnancy to avoid false pregnancy test results.

What Is The Best Time To Take A Pregnancy Test?

The HCG hormone secretion follows the fertilization of the eggs and placement of the embryo to the uterus. Medical experts choose this span of pregnancy when fertilization takes place as the best time to take the pregnancy test. The period after one week of missed period is ...

INSOMNIA DURING PREGNANCY  by

 Philip Jubb
6/19/2007 at 13:36
Whilst researching this article on Insomnia during Pregnancy I talked to several experts on Insomnia during pregnancy. They all said, in the round, the same thing. Insomnia during Pregnancy is NORMAL. The non- pregnancy specific causes like physical, mental and behavioral patterns that cause insomnia have to be ruled out. Medication should be kept to a minimum and don’t even think of trying anything without consulting a professional.

What is insomnia during pregnancy During the day, you may find yourself so tired that you long to go to sleep. Then, when evening finally arrives, you rest for a few hours and are up and unable to fall back to sleep. Rest assured that you are not alone, because insomnia during pregnancy is very common and has many causes.

Many women suffer from intermittent or chronic insomnia during pregnancy. There are many reasons you may have trouble drifting off to sleep during pregnancy. Some of the more common problems include hormonal imbalances, frequent urination as the uterus presses against the bladder and reduces the capacity, back pain, upset, stress, leg cramps or being unable to get into a comfortable position due to your increased size and and movement of the baby at night. Fortunately there are simple ways you can overcome any of these problems apart from the latter of course. :):).

Take a warm bath or shower at bedtime to start relaxing. Before retiring for the night, try some relaxation exercises you may have learned in class. Ask your partner for a massage. ...

DETERMINING WHEN THE BEST TIME TO GET PREGNANT IS  by

 Apurva Shree
6/19/2007 at 13:34
One of the things that can bond a couple is a baby. It can be a most amazing experience to create a baby and to share every moment from pregnancy planning, conception, to childbirth. Babies entail a lot of responsibility, as they are vulnerable and dependant on their parents to create a secure, happy and comfortable world. This is possible if there is understanding and love between the couple. When that part of the equation is right, anytime can be the best time to get pregnant so long as the partner’s health permits it.

How To Know When Is The Best Time To Get Pregnant

Many couples who want to have a baby use fertility period calculators to determine the most fertile period or best time of month to get pregnant. This will be easier if the couple consult a physician and read certain good books. Understanding the menstrual cycle is important too. The first day of period is considered as day one. On day seven, the egg is getting ready for fertilization. The uterine lining gets thicker in anticipation of the fertilized egg being implanted in it. In women with a normal 28-day menstrual cycle, the egg is released from the ovary on day fourteen and it travels down the fallopian tubules. If there are sperms present, they will fertilize the egg, which starts to undergo cell division as it implants itself in the uterine lining. Sperms can stay alive for 72 hours inside a woman whereas eggs have a shorter ...
