Despite its small size, there are many things that you will learn to love when you are in the beautiful country of Thailand. You will be enriched with its cultural heritage and history. You will be amazed by the mixture of different races such as the traditional Thais and the Chinese, who played an important role in the country’s history and economy. There are numerous festivals and events that have captured the fancy of millions of tourists all over world. Its seas, meanwhile, are excellent for yachting.

The Andaman Sea, with Phuket as its hub, is a excellent place for a sailing holiday. Here we find some of the most beautiful islands and beaches in the region, crystal clear waters and stunning geography. The diversity of this landscape is also a powerful attraction.

Sailing in Thailand’s Koh Phi Phi Don means taking a chartered boat or yacht into the its clear-blue waters and enjoying its limestone cliffs. You can also dock ashore and dine into luxurious meals prepared by several seafood restaurants. There are also souvenir shops where you can absolutely find a great souvenir on your way home. Koh Phi Phi Lee, on the other hand, becomes a perfect setting for the movie The Beach. It lies 20 miles on the east side of Phuket. The marvelous sight of the bay is truly a sight to behold for anyone who wishes to see brilliant sunset and sunrise. It also provides a great setting for photographs.

ITALY - TIPS FOR A SAILING VACATION  by

 D. Browall
4/2/2008 at 12:52
Yachting is predominant on the western side of Italy’s more than 5000 miles of coastline. Here is the Ligurian and the Tyrrhenian Sea. On the east coast is the Adriatic and in the south; the Ionian Sea. The west coast can be very crowded in the summer, especially in the north. July and August are the months to be someware else, but in the spring and autumn the coasts are more peaceful and the weather can be very nice. During summer weekends, booking ahead for a berth is essential.

Many tourists visit Italy every year-and it is for a good reason. For one, they can enjoy winter sports in the Alpine Mountains. They can enjoy biking among its trails and perhaps reach other neighboring countries like Switzerland, Slovenia, France, and Austria. Down the country, you can walking along its cobblestone and brick streets and enjoy the awesome historic remains of baths and of the world-renowned Colosseum. The waters too are clearly inviting, perfect locations for sailing in Italy.

You can perhaps blame the Italian rivers. Because of the country’s mild weather, they are easier to navigate. Thus, if you want to feel the country then sailing in Italy is a perfect activity for you. There are chartered yachts docked among its many ports. You can also hire a motor or sailboat, depending on the number of people who will be cruising and your finances.

There are also charter yachts available in the isle of Dubrovnik in Croatia, an island known for its mild ...

BOATING HOLIDAYS IN FRANCE  by

 Martyn Davis
4/2/2008 at 12:51
With the vast amount of different rivers and canals in France, and having such a varied landscape, you can be sure that you will be able to find just the right type of holiday for you and your family.

So, as you cruise along one of the rivers or canals at a leisurely pace you will get to see things that most people will never experience and each region also offers you the chance to experience their fantastic and sometimes unusual cuisine along with the incredible French wine that is as varied as the different regions.

Only a boating holiday in France will enable you to fully appreciate the idyllic countryside and architecture from Roman to Renaissance periods, along with the beautiful chateaus that are dotted along the banks. With the added plus of the glorious weather to match, it is not like traveling along the Norfolk Broads in the United Kingdom most of the year, when you are guaranteed to get some rain or gloomy days!

There is such a wide choice available for your boating holiday and you can pick the area with the climate for you; the further down South you go, the warmer it gets, but don’t forget that whilst cruising along, you need to be on the right hand side of the river or canal, just as the roads are in France!

One point, a license is required to be able to travel by boat on the French waterways, unless of course you only have something like a canoe! ...

SPAIN - GREAT FOR A SAILING VACATION  by

 D. Browall
4/2/2008 at 12:51
The principal sailing areas in Spain are the Balearic Islands in the east, Costa del Sol in the south and La Coruna in the northwest. The Canaries Islands is also a famous sailing destination.

The islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza is called the Balearics. This is a nice cruising area with Mallorca as the nautical center.

Over the last couple of years Spain’s Mediterranean coast and islands have seen a fantastic development in yachting facilities. There are new marinas being built everywhere, so that you are never more than a few hours’ sail from the next harbor.

The Canaries - northwest of Africa’s coast - have long been associated with sailing and the yearly Atlantic Crossing sets off from here to St Lucia in November each year.

For all tourists, Spain has something to offer all year round. During the months of May to September, where the weather is extremely good, you can take a walk along its capital city Madrid or Barcelona. On winter months, you can move some winter skiing among the slopes of Spanish mountains. The months of September to October are loaded with many kinds of activities you can participate in. Sailing in Spain, however, can be enjoyed anytime you want.

In the centre of the colorful scenery of Costa del Sol, with all its sky-rise buildings and whitewashed houses, is Sotogrande. It is a very peaceful Spanish area surrounded by one of the world’s best marina. You can certainly find chartered boats and yachts that can offer different packages ...

GUIDE TO A SAILING CHARTER IN NORWAY  by

 D. Browall
4/2/2008 at 12:48
The Norwegian coast is a heaven for sailors with picturesque small towns and a coastline especially on the south coast filled with islands.

The fjords and the mountainous landscape gives you the possibility to create interesting itineraries that are unique along the 1.200 nautical miles long coastline.

The beauty of Norway doesn’t only depend on its mountains and fjords but also on the diversity of its islands, which makes sailing in Norway truly enjoyable. All you have to do is charter a yacht, and then you can give yourself one unique and memorable holiday for you and your family.

One of the most fascinating places to visit in Norway is Bergen. It is a small town, the income of which is much dependent on tourism. Perhaps the reason could be attributed to the fact that the city acts like a portal for the glamorous fjords that comprise Norway. Moreover, there are several amateur bands that tirelessly play all over the community. Hence, while you’re waiting for your charter to arrive, you can sit down and listen to these individuals play their own music.

Sailing in Norway is like heaven. But where do you go? A good suggestion will be in the Norwegian South Coast region. By nature, the weather along this area is sometimes unpredictable. However, you can have many sheltered places along your charter. If you’re sailing alone, you can anchor your boat on any of the mountains near the fjords. Nevertheless, for safety purposes, ensure that you have the right safety equipment ...

VACATIONING ON YOUR OWN TERMS  by

 Jason Rhodes
9/21/2007 at 15:47
Cruise lines are popular forms of travel down to the Bahamas. Cruise lines such as Carnival coordinate cookie cutter vacations with strict itineraries to ports of call like Nassau/Paradise Island and Grand Bahama Island. While cruise ships have many amenities such as fitness centers, a pool area, spas and all-inclusive packages, are they meant to be the vacation destination?

For the innovative vacationers, who want to go to paradise and back via the sea have a unique option to visit exotic destinations for a personalized luxury vacation, otherwise known as a Luxury Yacht Charter. The Bahamas has so much more to offer than just Atlantis, a few waterfalls and a market place, but no cruise ship will ever go off the beat and path to take you there. Remember anywhere that you stop on a cruise, you are on the clock.

The true meaning of a vacation is a reprieve from ordinary life with the freedom to choose your recreation and forms of travel. Yacht Chartering is becoming more common these days. For Yacht owners it has become a way for them to defray exuberant costs for a vessel that they will only use a month or two of the year. For the vacationer, it is a resource for a Luxury Bahamas Vacation on a multi-million dollar mega yacht for a fraction of that cost.

On a Bahamas Yacht Charter you can choose to have a crewed charter or bareboat where you skipper the boat your self. On a crewed charter you will ...

WHY SHOULD I TAKE A CRUISE VACATION?  by

 Richard Yap
9/21/2007 at 15:42
In today’s fast world and lifestyle, everybody gets stressed out. A break is extremely essential to get away from the blues and get your mind and body to relax. If you are a family man, it is even more important to spend some quality time with the family. There is no better way to relax than take your family out for a vacation and a cruise is one of the best ways to do it.

There are a hundred reasons why you should take your family on a cruise.

Two Categories of Reasons

• If you are single or with a partner, the reasons are pretty much the same. There are a thousand different destinations around the world which you can choose from. Right from the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii and much more. Sun, sand, beaches and the sea. Exotic coral reefs, humpback whales, submarines and snorkeling. You name it and you have it. There are various other activities that you can pursue when your ship docks at each one of these exotic places. You can have a share of the local history, explore art forms, go hiking, mountain biking or simply lay in the sand and give yourself a good tan.

• If you are looking for a romantic getaway, romance comes naturally to a cruise. Your cruise will take the shape you want depending on the amount you are willing to spend and the type of cruise that you select. You can do everything from having your own private deck in your suite, ...

WEDDING CRUISE PACKAGES: AN OVERVIEW  by

 Kelly Hunter
9/21/2007 at 15:35
Little girls dream of growing up one day, wearing a white veil and walking down the aisle. However, by the time it is about to happen, perspectives and desires may have changed. No longer wanting a “traditional” wedding, everybody wants to do it differently, some going so far as getting married underwater. That sounds uncomfortable and not romantic at all and, well, wet.

One alternative that still manages to be romantic albeit nontraditional is the wedding cruise, sometimes referred to as the honeymoon cruise because the actual wedding is performed at the port. Think Love Boat and you get a picture of how it could be romantic. You still get married surrounded by water but you can dispense with the oxygen mask.

Apparently, however, it is not so uncommon for a couple to decide to go on a cruise ship instead of the church to get hitched. Based on the bewildering varieties of wedding cruse packages being offered, there must be a great demand for the service.

Packages can range from a two-hour private yacht shindig starting at $495 good for 12 guests to an elaborate 7-day cruise with a flat fee of $2,250 for on-board wedding and $1,000 per guest. If both the bride and groom have few friends and no family, then this could be the ideal wedding cruise package. However, it seems to be a bit weird to bring your wedding guests along on the honeymoon, especially if one of them is a hostile father/mother-in-law. Hopefully it is a very ...

RIVER CRUISING - A POPULAR CHOICE FOR CHEAP LUXURY CRUISES  by

 Virginia Morgan
9/21/2007 at 15:22
Travel agents are used to getting calls from travelers interested in luxury travel vacations who want to travel on a budget. While some more experienced travelers may roll their eyes, there is one big secret for travelers who are looking for a five star experience on a three star budget. It is called river cruising.

These river cruises have all the benefits that large cruise ships have. River cruising ships and itineraries are specifically set up to meet the highest standards of luxury, comfort, and convenience, similar to that of a luxury world cruise. You only unpack your bags once, dining is included in the price, and you can visit several different locations. Unlike big sea cruise vessels, river cruise boats are much smaller, with a maximum passenger number of about 150. There are no large crowds onboard during dining times and at on board activities. You will come to know your fellow travelers very well, and are likely to form bonds to last a lifetime. Thanks to the small and intimate number of travelers, the attention paid to each traveler on a river cruise ship is truly the height of luxury.

With river cruises, you get more included in your fare than large sea cruises, making it a luxury travel vacation full of added value. River cruises usually include a half-day land excursion for each day of the cruise. Many river cruise boats do not have interior cabins, meaning you will have more views of the countryside. While most sea cruise ...

MEXICAN CRUISES, SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE  by

 Dorothy Santoro
9/21/2007 at 15:17
If you are looking for a Mexican cruise, you have many choices. All the major cruise lines are booking Mexican cruises everyday. For example, Holland America sells many all inclusive Mexican cruises, as does, Royal Caribbean and many others.

There are many itineraries available for taking your Mexican cruise. You can cruise the Baja peninsula, go down through the Panama Canal or cruise the warm waters of the Caribbean side of Mexico. Mexican Cruises will start off, from ports on the Gulf of Mexico or Florida and sail the Yucatan and Western Caribbean.

Or they can depart from the west coast from ports like San Diego, Los Angeles and Long Beach, with Mexican cruises concentrating on the ports of this vast, diverse country that lie on the west coast of Mexico along the Pacific Ocean.

The Gulf of Mexico cruises sail the eastern coast, known as the Mayan Riviera to towns along the the Yucatan Peninsula, including Cozumel and Cancun.

Mexican cruises, known for being luxurious, allow you to move to mariachi music and meander through markets with mountains of colorful baskets, serapes and sombreros, combining day life with night life. You can do a little or as much as you can fit in.

You can take time to explore quaint fishing villages, colorful markets and ancient cultures, or go marlin fishing in Mazatlan, snorkeling in Cabo San Lucas or relaxing on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta with an icy Margarita in your hand.

No matter which cruise you take, Mexican cruises are enjoyable because of ...

AN ALASKAN ADVENTURE CRUISE ABOARD THE ISLAND PRINCESS  by

 John Shallo
2/12/2006 at 20:32
On one late summer’s day, my journey took me from Valdez to Seaward, Alaska. While traveling I could see the fire weed, bright red and in full bloom along the highway’s edge. According to the locals, winter would be coming soon, ending the short summer Alaska enjoys. My morning had begun in the Port of Valdez and I was preparing to meet Princess Cruise Line’s brand new ship, Island Princess.

As the Princess coach pulled into the Port of Seaward I could see the Island Princess standing tall and sleek. I couldn’t help but think about how incredible this ultra-modern cruise ship is. She is powered by a gas turbine and has a passenger capacity of 1,970. This ship stands tall at 204 feet and is 964 feet in length. She is the new sister of Princess Cruise Lines’ Coral Princess. This 92,000-ton sister is no follower as she has many traits of her very own. I would be onboard for a southbound cruise from Seward to Vancouver, B.C.

As I boarded the ship and began to explore, I was overwhelmed with this ship’s space and layout. In what’s been described as a "design twist", the Island Princess features two full decks of public spaces, versus the traditional single Promenade Deck. I found the ship’s four-storey atrium to be alive with sophisticated colors and lighting. One visit you’d find a string quartet playing "Yesterday" by the Beatles, and next you’d be entertained by piano music coming from the Crooners Lounge.

If the space ...
