The Benefits of Commercial Truck Leasing

by  Bryan A Smith 5/12/2012

Commercial truck leasing is an option that any company, needing commercial trucks, should thoroughly explore. With the variety of financing options out there, leasing has become a valuable way to save money on equipment costs. A company’s operating expenses can be severely impacted with the costs of purchasing a new fleet, but of course they cannot operate without those trucks on the road. To keep purchasing and maintenance costs as low as possible, leasing can be a key strategy.

One of the biggest benefits to commercial truck leasing is the ability to use leasing to keep your cash and budget optimal. Companies who purchase their fleets, whether new or used, spend a large amount of money up front, negatively impacting their cash flow. Equipping a company with commercial vehicles, or even to simply replace outdated ones, can be a huge expense. Companies either need to have this money already in the bank, or they will need to acquire a bank loan in order to purchase the vehicles. Neither option is great as businesses these days need every penny banked for emergencies and operating costs. Banks loan to companies on their own terms, which may not always be in the company’s best interests.

Commercial truck leasing also lowers maintenance costs. Leasing companies may also provide ongoing vehicle maintenance as part of a leasing agreement. This allows the company to focus more on daily operations, with less to worry about. This saves time and money for the company, since they can remove ...

Finance Options for Buying a Brand New Truck

by  Lacey M Kennedy 5/12/2012

There are numerous important factors why a company, business or individual would have to acquire a brand new truck. Several businesses depend on trucks to provide the services they market (For example, a removals and storage business). For businesses like these it is crucial to continue to be up to date and use current vehicles to ensure that they are able to offer a higher good quality service. Also, as safety laws are tightened, businesses must ensure that they are covered by having the most latest and sophisticated safety features in all of their trucks.

When people speak of trucks they usually do not only refer to large heavy duty vehicles. Many individuals require a ’Light Truck’ for general use. Whether it be delivering furniture, carting tools around town or even basically transporting a surf board. You will find countless reasons why a person would want a light truck as a way to go about their everyday business.

The cheapest solution when looking to purchase a truck is to invest in a light truck. Examples of light trucks are pickup trucks and tow trucks. These sorts of vehicles are only suitable for personal use and businesses needing only to transport smaller loads. Medium, large and semi-trailer trucks for carrying larger loads may be very expensive, possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Getting a truck for private use or business use can be a very pricey investment. When acquiring a truck for personal use, you can find brokers which provide truck ...

5 Things to Consider When Buying a Truck

by  Rosie Woods 5/12/2012

So you want to buy a truck. Maybe your current truck can’t keep up with your towing needs, or maybe you need to haul heavy equipment and are looking for extra space. Whatever your reason for buying a truck, the decision shouldn’t be made lightly. And with all the great options out there, making a final choice becomes difficult. But if you take some time to consider how you plan to use your new truck, it won’t be so hard to decide. Take a look at what you need to think about when buying a truck, so you end up a vehicle that will suit your needs for years to come.

#1: Think about gas mileage when buying a truck
As any American knows, gas prices are high right now, and trucks tend to use more gas than the average vehicle. Fuel cost is an issue for the majority of people, including truck owners, so make sure to check out the mpg of your new truck. And if you plan on hauling heavy equipment, that can further reduce your gas mileage - so that’s even more reason to think about mpg ratings. For example, the U.S. Dept. of Energy reports that for 2012 in the standard pickup truck category, the GMC Sierra 15 Hybrid and the Chevrolet Silverado 15 Hybrid claim the top spot as having the highest combined fuel economy at 21 mpg. The Ford F150 Pickup and Raptor Pickup have the worst, at 13 mpg. If fuel costs ...

Properly Inflate The Tires On Your Pickup Truck

by  Otto Wortman 5/12/2012

Doing this right and maintaining your tires properly inflated at all times will improve your truck’s fuel economy and overall performance. However most importantly, it will significantly increase its safety. There is nothing that you will have to pay, this is something that you can do entirely on your own and you will know that you are making your vehicle a great deal safer. The last thing you want is to waste time and money on a flat tire or a tire related accident while working.

For this reason, make sure you check your car’s tires with the beginning of each season. Have them thoroughly examined and never overlook their importance in keeping your car safely in contact with the road. Besides, they are the vehicle’s only direct contact with the road, which automatically means that they are the parts that will get the most worn down and will need most attention and care.

Also, ensuring the right tire pressure will ensure that the vehicle stops when you want it to, manages to carry a significant amount of weight and other similar things that have to do with the car’s safety and performance. Pickup trucks have often been observed to not have the right tire pressure. Although they always look fine, they tend to be under-inflated, which does not allow them to perform properly, costs the driver more money and most importantly, is not safe.

When you are trying to determine what the right pressure is, then it is best ...

The History of Volvo Trucks

by  William Hammer 5/12/2012

Volvo Trucks has its headquarters in Sweden and is considered to be the second biggest brand of heavy truck manufacturer. It is owned by Volvo Group-AB Volvo. As of 2011, Volvo was making their trucks in 15 different countries and has been selling more than 100,000 trucks a year all over the world. The Volvo Group also consists of trucking companies Renault, Mack, and UD trucks.

Early History of Volvo Trucks
Volvo produced its first truck in 1928, but had also been making cars the year before. The first truck was the LV series 1. It came with a 2.0 L four-cylinder engine that had 29 horsepower and that first year they sold 500 of this model. While most trucks of this era had chain-drive systems and solid rubber tires, Volvo was being innovative and the LV truck was shaft-driven and had pneumatic tires.

This model was much more of a success than Volvo expected and unlike other trucks made in the 20s, Volvo had designed the entire vehicle. After the first 500 sold out quickly, they had to hurry to do a second series of 500 more trucks, which were considered Series 2 and had a few modifications, such as widening its track to 1,460 mm, and reducing the previous double rear axle to only one, which made it safer, though it drove slower.

Volvo Produces First Six Cylinder Trucks
In 1929, Volvo Trucks came out with the very first six cylinder truck, dubbing it the Series 3 truck. It ...

What to Look for in a Used Truck Supplier

by  Charles A T 5/12/2012

If you’re looking for an exporter of used trucks that you can trust, there’s a range of things to look out for. Buying a used truck is always a risk - there’s no way of being sure how the truck has been treated by its previous owner. For a business which relies on their trucks, it’s vital they source them from a reliable supplier. We’ve put together a list of useful important points to consider whilst considering which used truck supplier to use.

• Reputation - The first thing to consider when looking at used truck suppliers is their reputation. Suppliers which have built up a good reputation over a period of years (sometimes decades!) are able to source quality retail stock to individuals and fleet operators.

• Manufacturer Partnerships - Suppliers which work closely with manufacturers are often able to source a constant stream of quality stock. Partnerships with manufacturers not only provide a level of confidence, but also guarantee the supplier will be able to source original parts for any future repairs.

• Competitive Pricing - There’s a fine line between quality and cost. When you’re looking for an exporter of used trucks be sure to look for one which offers competitive pricing but still provides a quality product.

• Communication - This may seem like an obvious one, but a company which provides prompt and regular communication with their customers during the truck buying period, is one which cares.

Although most of these points are common sense, ...

Get Your Tires Ready for Bad Weather!

by  Christopher M. Hunter 12/30/2011

Bad weather can happen any time of the year: spring and summer can bring storms with hail and heavy rain while winter brings its own icy road problems. One major component that should be thoroughly checked on any vehicle year-round is the condition of the tires. Whether they are completely or just partially worn out, handling them in any wet driving condition makes them dangerous to use and important to replace!

Anatomy
While partially worn wheels may still seem road-worthy, driving on the road with them during bad weather is not a good idea. The primary purpose of grooves is to channel water and snow away from the vehicle. When the tires are worn out and groove depth is reduced, the effectiveness to perform the intended job is also reduced. This could lead to a variety of problems and hazards during bad weather driving.

Potential Hazards
Storms in the spring/summer and snow in the winter bring with it a number of dangers to those who choose to brave the sometimes bad roads. Here are a few of the most common dangers that are experienced during the harsh weather of any season.

 • Hydroplaning - Hydroplaning occurs when water is not effectively moved away from the path of the vehicle, causing the vehicle to skim over the water rather than make contact with the road. This can occur merely by driving over pooled water on the roadway; however, it happens more commonly when the tires are bald or the grooves are significantly worn. Experiencing this scenario while ...

4X4 Accessories Like Catalytic Converters and How They Clean the Air

by  Joy Sheila 12/30/2011

If you think about one of the major problems that we have today, it has to be the amount of pollution that we have in the air. There are so many factors that contribute to this problem; mostly it is the fact that people are so careless about the harmful gases that get in the air since they feel that it just goes away. Well, those pollutants that you release do not just go away; it happens that they linger and they for one giant toxic cloud that then makes it way back to us in the form of acid rain and other respiratory diseases. You know that blanket of grey that you see over big cities when you are riding the plane? Well, that is called smog and that is the result of the pollutants that are released into the air and so you can see that those pollutants do not just "go away". This is especially true for 4x4 owners and that is why they need 4x4 accessories that will help with the emissions. There are a lot of 4x4 accessories to choose from and if you are to get 4x4 accessories make sure that they are useful and not just decorative.

Air pollution is such a problem that cities and nations are now employing clean air acts so that they can help curb some of the damage before things get even worse than they already are. One of the biggest culprits when it comes to air pollution is ...

Achieve the Roaring Sound With the Performance Exhaust System

by  Deborah Mc Lean Smith 12/30/2011

Have you ever wondered how the sports cars can emit that wonderful roaring sound which makes it so distinguished from other cars? Don’t you just love to have a car that will growl and have all those girls swoon with delight? If you have seen the series of films of The Fast and the Furious you will know what I mean. A car can really be so sexy with that kind of roaring sound. The sound is produced through the exhaust system of the car. The exhaust system works like the human respiratory system. When we work out, we expel all the carbon dioxide from the body through the lungs. If we don’t expel that carbon dioxide then something wrong will happen to the body.

The performance exhaust of the car works like the lungs. As the engine works, the different gases are given a passage or an exit route through the exhaust system. In order that the gases can be expelled rapidly, it needs an exhaust system with a wider diameter than what was normally attached to the car. When the diameter of the piping is wide, the car gains more horsepower but this is largely dependent upon the engine of the car. It does not necessarily mean that you can fit the car with the largest possible bore pipe as it may cause the car to lose some of its efficiency. The performance exhaust must fit the engine requirements of the car in order to boost its performance and ...

Common Problems With Used Heavy Trucks

by  Laurel R. Lindsay 12/30/2011

Heavy duty trucks are very expensive and are certainly a big investment for many people, especially when they absolutely need it for their jobs. While purchasing brand new trucks may seem like the best option in terms of reliability and efficiency, they can quickly skyrocket over a conservative budget that most people are willing to spend, which leaves the options of used heavy trucks.

There are many safe and reliable used heavy trucks available on the market but it’s important to know the common problems that these types of trucks have, so that you can avoid purchasing a model that will require constant repairs.

Rust
As is the case with many used cars, used heavy trucks also face the problem of rust. While some truck bodies will not show obvious signs of rust, it’s very important to do a thorough check to make sure the integrity of the vehicle body is perfectly intact. If there are problematic areas that have succumbed to rust buildup, it’s recommended to continue your search for a good used truck.

The biggest problem with rust is the fact that the truck becomes weak in particular parts and the rust will simply continue to spread until the truck is no longer useable. This is especially dangerous with large areas of rust since it may cause parts of the vehicle to fall off, making it extremely dangerous while out on the road.

Leaks
The most common places for used heavy trucks to have leaks are the engine and the radiator, both of which ...

Common Truck Maintenance Procedures

by  Patrick Winchester 11/2/2011

Part of successfully insuring your truck is making sure that you avoid accidents. Obviously, the reason you choose premium commercial truck insurance is so that you do not have to worry about getting out of a sticky situation when you do need it.

But there are precautions you can take that will help prevent an accident from ever happening, so that you will not have to deal with filling out forms, getting your truck repaired, having your claims checked, or recovering from an injury.

Here are some common truck maintenance procedures that will help relieve long-term stress.

1) Change the oil: Sometimes, the simplest things cause the most trouble. While every automobile requires its oil to be changed, it is often ignored. And commercial vehicles are pushed even harder than private ones, making this trivial task even more essential. A good rule of thumb is to change the oil every 2 to 3 thousand miles with high quality motor oil.

2) Rotate and replace tires: One of the most dangerous accidents occurs when large semi-trucks blow a tire and skid off the road. Without proper traction, it is difficult for the truck driver to control, and semis can cause a lot of damage to fellow drivers. Rotate tires every 3,000 miles, which will give the auto-mechanic an opportunity to check the brakes and brake pads as well. In addition, you can check the air pressure on a weekly basis to ensure it meets standards. When tread gets worn down, replace the tires before an ...

A Brief Introduction To Truck Tires

by  Kevin Mai 11/2/2011

Cheap truck tires are easy to find for sale on the internet. However, finding a cheap, good quality and the appropriate tire for a vehicle can be harder. A tire is a vital part of any vehicles performance and safety. It is very important to choose the right tire that is most appropriate for the vehicles needs.

Most modern tires are made from natural and synthetic rubber and metal wires. The tire is made up of a tread and the body. The tread provides traction while the body supports the weight of the vehicle.

The majority of tires are pneumatically inflatable and contains metal wires encased in rubber. They become a cushion when they are filled with compressed air. Most vehicles use this form of tire as they are safer and provide better fuel economy.

The tire’s tread makes contact with the surface of the road, the part of the tread that is in contact is known as the contact patch. The tread will provide the correct amount of traction ensuring that it does not not wear away too quickly. On the tread there are grooves, lugs, voids and sipes. The grooves run around the tire and moves away water, this ensures stability on wet surfaces. Lugs are the part of the tire tread that contacts the grounds and voids are the spaces in between. The voids ensure that water can be removed to the sipes, which pushes the water to the side of the tire to escape. This avoids any issues with ...

A GPS System When Driving Commercial Trucks Is A Must

by  Kalyan Kumar 5/14/2011

Many vehicles today, large and small, have a GPS or a Global Positioning System installed. This device has become a necessity because of the benefit it brings to drivers. By providing information on an area, the person behind the steering wheel will be able to find the location he’s looking for easily without having to go around the place several times.

For truck drivers, the GPS has become the second most important component of the truck next to the steering wheel when it comes to safety and efficiency. For them, large trucking companies should have this device installed in their vehicles such as delivery trucks and tractor trailers to improve safety of their drivers on the road and to enable them to reach their destination faster than usual.

Compared to using the traditional map while driving and looking for directions, the GPS is most convenient and safe to use. Unlike when using a map, drivers risk getting into accidents as they still need to open that huge paper showing the street names and areas in front of them while maneuvering the steering wheel. In short, their concentration is divided between monitoring the road ahead and checking the map to find out where they are and where they’re going. While not all drivers do this as some pull off the road to look at their maps, it’s a reality that there are drivers guilty of this habit.

But with a GPS installed, truck drivers can proceed to their destination easily as they are provided ...
