How To Make The Most Out Of Your Travel

by  William Ron 10/26/2011

Make sure your house does not look vacant while you are away. Coming home to find that you have been robbed would be a nightmare. If you intend to be gone for a considerable length of time, consider redirecting or having a friend pick up your mail for you.

Eliminate the middle man when purchasing travel tickets. When you book direct with an airline or train line, 90% of the time you will get a better deal than if you use a booking agency. Many booking agencies are now reducing their fees, but if you have time to book direct, nine times out of ten you will save money.

Keep your wallet in your front pocket, and wrap a rubber band around it. Both of these tactics will allow you to feel if someone is attempting to steal your wallet. Keeping it in your front pocket is a big deterrence anyway, because it is more difficult for you to be distracted.

When traveling, even in developed nations, always assume your hands are contaminated. Don’t put your fingers in your mouth and avoid eating with your hands. Chances are good you’ve come into contact with hundreds of people and thousands of surfaces, any one of which could be carrying a disease that you aren’t prepared for.

Research the type of travel insurance you are considering before making the investment. Make sure that it covers things like, baggage loss or delay and emergency medical expenses, so you can recover some of the cost of your trip ...

Best Way to Travel

by  June Owensboro 10/26/2011

Traveling and seeing the world can be one of the most amazing adventures around. There is so much to see and do on our planet that one could spend forever just discovering the different regions. When you are traveling, there are different modes of transportation that you can use. Everything from planes to water taxis. Different regions and different cultures use different modes. It is important to do as the locals so and fit in.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: In the United States these are the most common modes of transportation. Unlike other countries, our cities are very spread out and unless you live in the heart of a city, walking everywhere is not a realistic way of living. Trains are becoming less common in the United States many other countries still use these for individuals to travel from country to country. Depending on your region, most trains are used for carrying goods in the United States. Planes get you from one place to another a lot faster and easier than cars and trains. Growing security concerns have made air travel a little more of a hassle than the other two modes of transportation. Increasing gas prices also factor into the pricing of all three.

Boats: Whether you are on a cruise of sailing off on an adventure, if you do not wish to take a plane, there is no other way to cross our great oceans. There are many factors into taking a boat like health and timing. Taking a boat ...

by  Thom Sanders 10/26/2011

Disneyworld has been a revered family holiday destination for the last 40 years. The resort offers many different parks all adopting different styles, leading to one of the most diverse and entertaining experiences in the world. These are just a few examples of the great areas to explore around the park.

Epcot

This area of the park is purely dedicated to technology and history of 11 great nations around the world. Take your self on a journey through time on Spaceship Earth. The 16 minute show takes you from the ages of prehistoric man right the way through to how people may live in the future, with every significant event in between. There are areas dedicated to France, Germany, China, Italy and Japan to name a few. After these, come back home in the United Kingdom Pavilion, allowing you to stroll through an English village and even get a pint of your favourite tipple at the authentic Rose and Crown pub.

Blizzard Beach

Get set for thrills and spills at one of the two waterparks the resort offers. Plunge from a twelve storey drop on the Summit Plummet waterslide. You can race against not only time but each other on the 230 foot long DoubleDipper Ride. When all the adrenaline seems too much, simply grab a rubber ring and relax on the Cross Country Creek lazy river. The blizzard beach has enough to keep both the children and adults amused all day long, or until you run out of energy.

What to Include in a Vacation Checklist

by  Loretto Bennett 10/26/2011

Vacations should be for fun, as opposed to worrying about what you forgot to do or bring along. These are some very important things to include on a vacation checklist. First, research your destinations to determine the basics such as type of clothing needed. Make any reservations in advance that you need such as hotel, rental car, or tours. If a passport is required, make an appointment to get that and required shots as well if needed. Book flight tickets and hotel reservations if needed, and make arrangements for any pet care that will be necessary. When the arrangements are made, write a list of where you will be and when, so that it can be given, or told to trusted family members or friends.

It is important for someone that you trust, to look out for your home while you are vacationing. If you trust a neighbor, have them keep an eye out on your home, so that you will not have to worry as much. This person should have a key, and be able to check for anything unusual in your home. If you are going to be on an extended trip, make arrangements to have someone mow your yard. Stop your mail and newspapers also, if you will be away for more than a month. It is very important that someone knows where you will be at all times, so that you may be contacted, however remind your friends and family that this is a vacation. It is ...

World’s Highest Railroad: China to Tibet

by  Adrian Fisher 10/6/2010

One of the most exciting new travel opportunities in China is the railway connecting Golud, China to the city of Lhasa in Tibet. The railway, which was completed in 2006, is the highest in the world, crossing Tanggula Pass at over 16,000 feet. 1215 miles long, the railway winds through high plateaus and part of the Himalayas, and part of the line is built on permafrost. 80% of the railway is over 33,000 feet in altitude and the train is equipped with supplemental oxygen for passengers, making it literally a breath-taking journey.

The railway makes overland travel exceedingly more comfortable than the old buses that rattled their way through the plateau, and the train is fast - it’s just a 2 day journey all the way from Beijing. The views are magnificent and the train is very comfortable and inexpensive. A luxury service is planned but has been delayed because of the financial crisis and 2011 is the projected new target for its opening.

Tourists are required to apply for a special visa before entering Tibet in addition to the standard China travel visa and can be obtained through Chinese travel agencies, though this may not be necessary in the near future. There are those who feel it is unethical to visit Tibet and that the railway further strengthens China’s dominance over Tibet, but the Dalai Lama has spoken out in favor of tourism to Tibet and says that it is a positive thing for the outside world to see the oppression ...

Germany Travel Tip - Explore the Braunfels Castle

by  Bettina Kraft 10/6/2010

It looks like coming directly out of a fairy tale, but it’s true: On the top of a basalt rock, Castle Braunfels (in Germany) with its magnificent silhouette majestically overlooks the town and greets its visitors from afar. Family-owned for 800 years, the castle is a living cultural monument full of exceptional art treasures and still inhabited by the princely family today.

In the course of the centuries the castle’s appearance and interior have changed, the complex was rebuilt and enlarged many times. During the guided tours history becomes alive: Visitors hear about the castle’s eventful development and about the history of the princely family who established contacts all over Europe and the United States of America.

The cultural events taking place against the background of the historical scenery of the castle courtyard and gardens are a special treat, open air opera performances, for example.

The castle’s visitor program is characterized by christian family tradition and open mindedness towards the guests from all over the world. With flexible opening hours all year round and every day, the castle offers its visitors an unusually broad variety of guided tours and events, attracting visitors of all ages and interests.

There are nice restaurants located around the castle and market place area. In summer months you can sit in one of the beer gardens outside that overlook the castle. Around Christmas time everything is nicely decorated, and lights everywhere. So whenever you decide to go, Braunfels is always worth exploring!

We recommend for dining:

Be Careful Of Niagara Falls Tours

by  Marcia Brown 10/3/2010

I finally had a Niagara Falls tour last week, however, I must tell you that you should be careful when you choose your tour company. The waterfall is absolutely beautiful and amazing, but only a good tour could guarantee that you can fully enjoy the beautiful scenery.

As a must be seen, Niagara Falls has become a world-wide popular scenic spot. Many tour companies have Niagara tour line, so I have booked one which has the name of so-called king travel. However, I was not happy with it through my whole tour, and I would never choose it again.

I came across many problems in this unhappy tour. The bus would pick me up from the hotel at 8:45 am on the tour schedule, so I got up at 8:00 in the morning. When I brushed my teeth, my cell phone was ringing, and I was told to get downstairs right now. I had already confirmed the time with the tour guide the day before yesterday, however, he didn’t tell me that the pick up time would be 30 minutes earlier than the predetermined time. So I had to hurry up and get on the bus.

The staff were very rude. I paid an extra fee for $80, and I asked why they charged me $160 instead of specified $80. They told me that there was an increasing fee of the tax. But finally it turned out that I had paid for 2 people. Though they paid back the money to me, they ...
