WHAT IS INSIDE WIMAX TECHNOLOGY (802.16)  by

 Shafqat Zia
10/6/2008 at 07:03
WiMAX technology is identified as Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access; it was formed in June 2001 to encourage conformance and interoperability of the WiMAX (IEEE 802.16) standard, officially known as Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN). WiMAX technology intended to offer wireless data in a related fashion as compared to WiFi but on a outsized level and speed, therefore building national wireless networks with ease.

The driving forces behind WiMAX technology are link-to-multilink microwave networks from organizations for instance Alcatel and Siemens stay alive for years. Alternatively WiMAX offers a consistent technology according to its standard. WiMAX technology open loom could let product manufacturers make revenues of scale via producing number of WiMAX products & components to single IEEE 802.16 standard, this also allow component manufacturers buy low-cost, standards compliant components from rival component providers. This would defiantly help existing wireless service providers.

In addition, service providers lacking a mobile network can start a WiMAX technology network at comparatively stumpy price. WiMAX technology would also allow interoperability among different systems. WiMAX technology will offer high data speed network connections and in this manner serve as a backhaul for WiFi LAN (WLAN) hot spots, where people on the move can access carriers’ WiFi services on mobile technology basis. WiMAX technology possibly will offer a much cheaper, easier to build network infrastructure other than the physical medium of WiFi backhauls that cable, T1 or DSL systems presently offer. These issues, together with user’s requirements for broadband facilities, will offer the grounds to markets to grow ...

IS WIMAX SECURE?  by

 Shafqat Zia
10/6/2008 at 07:02
WiMAX is the broadband wireless access system designed by the IEEE 802.16 committee for carrying high-speed communication over long distances. Telecommunications services and Internet has become more attractive due to WiMAX. The main purpose of WiMAX is to guard the service provider from thievery of service, and to defend the patron from unofficial information revelation. WiMAX networks vulnerable to man from bother, revealing user to a range of privacy and possible attacks

The use of 802.16e amendment provides strong support to confidential data due to AES cipher. WiMAX offer good intentions to several potential attacks such as Rogue Base Stations that that imitates a justifiable entrée point, DoS Attacks enable a computer source occupied to its intentional users, Man-in-the-Middle Attacks which formulates sovereign links with the fatalities, and Network exploitation with spoofed supervision frames. WiMAX security ropes two quality encryptions as DES3 and AES are the leading edge with DOCSIS BPI and security protocol. WiMAX use CCMP with AES for broadcast security and data veracity substantiation. The use of PKM Extensible verification relies on the TLS standard of public key encryption.

The authentication structure of WiMAX based on (IETF) force which supports user name, password, smart cads, and digital certificate containing public key and MAC address. The use of PKM which is a client server protocol performs like a client. You can secure your messages with AES, CMAS, and HMAC. WiMAX offer privacy, data integrity, authentification, authorization and access control. WiMAX security has different layers within a system with different aspects of ...

WITHIN WIMAX ENCORE ENCRYPTION  by

 Shafqat Zia
10/6/2008 at 07:02
WiMax Encryption is the technique used to shelter the discretion of information sinuous between a spreader and a recipient. Encryption deals with the blockage of data to be protected also called encryption key. Encryption key used to achieve an overturned arithmetical process to produce a secret message or code text which is incomprehensible and therefore can be driven across the network without terror of being snooped. There are various kind of keys used for encryption and to handle it. The procedure of this is called asymmetrickeyencryption. The National Institute of Standards introduced AES specified as a link-layer encryption technique to be used in WiMAX. It is based on Rijndael algorithm that works on a 128-bit block size of data. The Rijndael algorithm organized in a 4 x 4 array of bytes called a state.

The size of encryption key sizes may be 128, 192, or 256 bits long and so on. These appealing chattels make counter mode an admired selection for AES accomplishment. AES have validation Code such as CBC-MAC and CBC-MAC are the protocol defined in RFC 3610. The power control diminishes the common power utilization of the CPE and the make possible the meddling with other base stations and for Non-Line-Of-Sight (NLOS) it is also intimately dependent relative on the authorization and fences.

There are lots of relative issue and characteristics of WiMax Encryption such as Error Detection Techniques used to reduce the system signals to noise ratio (SNR) by using interleaving algorithms, Convolutional Encoding, and Strong Reed Solomon FEC. ...

MACBOOK AIR BLOWS THE ROOF OFF EXPECTATIONS  by

 Corey T Bruhn
3/19/2008 at 16:30
Apple has already long-ago proven itself far more than a mere one-trick pony (with the Apple IIE, iPod, iPhone, etc.). And now the ubiquitous brand is back in the saddle again!

Taking a break from our usual iPhone discussion, we thought we’d take a moment to focus in on one of Apple’s other recent innovations that’s also taking the world by storm - the Macbook Air. Apparently, like the iPhone, the hype over the Macbook Air is a lot more than just a bunch of...well, hot air.

In our modern age’s never-ending obsession over miniaturization, it comes as no surprise that when the prevailing masters of innovation - Steve Jobs and Co. - deigned to invent a better laptop they took this to mean a lighter weight laptop. Being that the whole point of a laptop is to be able to carry it around with you wherever you go, this makes total sense.

At only 0.16" to 0.76" thick and weighing in at under 3 pounds, the product of Apple’s efforts, the Macbook Air, hit stores on January 29 and recent reports reveal that they’ve been selling out of stock every single day since then. This includes venues in New York, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. At the latest count, stores both online and off are estimating an approximate one-week delay between the time a customer orders and purchases a Macbook Air and the time it arrives for pickup (or delivery). The last time such a claim could be made, it ...

PORTABLE PLEASURE - THE IPOD AND EARBUD CARRYING CASE  by

 Thomas Martinez
3/19/2008 at 16:29
The iPod has revolutionized the music industry, from how music is sold, packaged and enjoyed. Never before has so much music been offered in such a small package, and never has one device dictated the progress of an entire artistic movement. However, the iPod truly is a small package, and an expensive package at that; like any hard drive or computer, the hundreds of dollars spent on it can easily be wasted if the device is not cared for properly. While Apple has improved the durability of the iPod, it still cannot withstand constant abuse; crushing it, dropping it or exposing it to water or extreme heat is a sure death sentence. Thankfully, the market for iPod cases is flourishing, and listeners can easily invest in the protection of their iPods as well.

However, what many individuals forget is that the iPod is useless without its headphones. Many users purchase higher-quality earbuds in order to truly take advantage of the iPod’s capabilities: earbuds that reproduce the entire spectrum of music, from the lowest bass to the highest treble. These headphones should be protected as well with the purchase of an iPod and earbud carrying case, because an iPod is nothing without sound.

The Many Shapes and Sizes

While the iPod itself can be protected with sleeves, metal cases, knit socks and various other rubber products, this usually leaves the headphones exposed to the elements. Other carrying cases, while not designed to protect the iPod while in use, do not always have enough extra ...

FREE GLOBAL WIFI NETWORK - REALITY OR MERELY A DRE  by

 Bill Pratt
3/19/2008 at 16:29
WeFi is a company hoping to do for WiFi connectivity what Face book has done earlier for social networking. They are creating software that is freely downloadable on laptops or mobile devices and as per company it will enhance WiFi connectivity, thus making mobile devices powerful with more powerful connection tools.

As soon as the software is installed, it starts searching for WiFi hot spots in a user’s area, thus allowing them to map all the hot spots in their vicinity with the help of Google Maps application. As per WeFi, the eventual goal is to create a global map of wireless hot spots that can be used as a reference for members of the WeFi community who are in search of Internet access in new locations.

In one of an interview WeFi CEO Zur Feldman Feldman told that the goal the company is to provide and create a virtual global network, which is free to allow everyone to get on whenever they choose and to have a service of broadband through WiFi all over world. Further he stated that WeFi wants people to be able to use that platform to communicate with friends, and to use applications such as voice to connect with people all over the place without needing to pay any kinds of fees. In short, the end goal is to create a global virtual network based on WiFi.

WeFi is working on a providing a technological platform in order to enable people to take advantage of hot spots around ...

WIRELESS THE FREEDOM  by

 Victor Pradel
3/19/2008 at 16:28
The wireless Internet laptop allows you the freedom to roam away with AC outlets. But it is the built-in Wi-Fi wireless feature often found in Pentium M laptops that gives you the power to connect to the Internet and send and receive email from wherever you are, without wires. Hotpots are appearing everywhere.

Wireless Internet laptop networking has made the leap from dream to reality. Nearly every mobile device on the market features some kind of wireless connectivity or at least support for it. Sorting through the available standards may seem tricky, but it is not. Basically there are two kinds of wireless connectivity : Blue tooth and Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi, also known as 802.11, is the older, more established wireless standard. It is also faster and has a longer range than Blue tooth. This extended range opens a vast range of possibilities. Many public areas can be outfitted with WiFi antennas to extend the wireless Internet laptop operating range for use in public areas. Using WiFi for Internet access from your laptop, you can go on line and send email from airports, hotels and coffee shops. This will be the fastest-growing segment of WiFi service, as more and more travelers and mobile professionals seek fast and secure Internet access wherever they are.

Wireless Internet Laptop Bluetooth is meant for short range jobs, such as connecting a PDA to a cell phone or a cell phone to a laptop. It is great for syncing address books and small files between devices. Blue tooth is ...

TIPS ON CREATING A SENSIBLE MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY  by

 Nick Pegley
1/15/2008 at 12:28
Mobile Strategy

The price of a unit of long-distance communication is in a continuous decline. With cell coverage now nearly ubiquitous and now that so many plans have long distance, traditional landline long-distance is steadily declining. That very decline, in terms of cost per unit, holds true for telephone lines, your ’Net connection, and data circuits. However, the total cost of a mobile phone and usage is consistently on the rise.

Strategic Mobile Road Map

For a business to synch its business and communications goals, a plan which includes a strategy and outlined actions is a necessity. To transform your mobile platform over from a cost center to a business enabler requires the implementation of a comprehensive road map. The strategy and road map describe how mobile services can add to the grand scheme of information and communications technology used by the business. This strategy can also match the business’ goals with a particular technology. In addition to being a part of the overall strategy, the roadmap needs a base in the organization’s requirements, devices in use, contract limitations, process, and system hardware and software.

Getting it Implemented

The preferred way to outline and enable a mobile strategy and roadmap is to understand the user and make a profile. The profile should not be considered the same thing as the person’s job title. Instead, it should be representative of the role and responsibility which the person fulfills. The user profile ideally describes both current and future situations. A user’s profile should have the role and ...

FINDING THE BEST LAPTOP COMPUTER  by

 Richard Keir
1/15/2008 at 12:27
If you are in the market, then you’ll want to find the best laptop computer for you. Note that last phrase "for you" because it is a critical part of the purchase process. Too often people interpret "best" in the wrong way - most expensive, slickest, fastest, or state-of-the-art bleeding edge technology. The best notebook computers are tools that meet your own needs without unneeded features or expenses. So begin at the beginning.

First, you need to consider your budget. The best laptop computer for a college student is unlikely to be in the same price range as a machine that a graphics designer needs. Most people probably overestimate their needs and end up either paying too much or paying for the wrong features. Before you start narrowing things down, settle on your budget. A college student probably doesn’t need to spend a small fortune on top of their other expenses. You should also be sure you truly need a laptop and, if so, whether it will be your only machine. If most of your work will be done on a desk top machine and you only need a laptop when traveling, you should be able to keep your costs down. But, if it’s going to be the machine you do everything on, you will likely have to spend more.

The only real advantage to a notebook computer is that they are portable. They are more expensive than desktop systems to begin with and they are also harder (and more expensive) to ...

SAVING MONEY ON A LAPTOP PURCHASE  by

 Gary Riddle
1/15/2008 at 12:26
Used laptops are for more abundant now than they were even a couple of years ago. Sales have surged. The main reason for this is because laptops are cheaper than ever before and loaded with features. I read just the other day that laptop computer sales have exceeded desktop computer sales.

What happens a lot of the time is people trade in their perfectly good laptop for the latest and greatest. That’s good news for anybody that needs a cheap used laptop. For the average user who checks email, surfs the net, and uses Microsoft Office a used laptop is perfect for their needs.

One method I have used in the past to obtain a used laptop is to keep a sharp lookout for the brand and model I want on Ebay. A lot of people will not buy used laptops because they afraid they will get a lemon. A way to reduce the chances of that on Ebay is to check the seller’s feedback. If a seller on Ebay has the one that meets your needs make sure their feedback is in the 98%+ range or above. Don’t be afraid to ask the seller questions either. You can get a pretty good idea of what type a person you are dealing with by asking questions that you need to know the answer to. Just click on the Ask the Seller a Question at the upper right hand corner of the auction page. If the seller is prompt and courteous with an ...

FEMININE LAPTOP BAGS  by

 A. Covington
1/15/2008 at 12:21
Functionally chic women’s laptop bags are hard to come by. One of my biggest complaints, and I’ve heard this from my friends too, is finding a women’s laptop bag that’s both feminine and functional. Most business women don’t want to carry around a pink briefcase with flowers on it, or lug around a bag meant for a 6ft tall man. And why does it seem that most women’s laptop cases don’t have shoulder support? Men have so many cool options; they can go, techy or sophisticated, casual or urban. All they have to do is walk into a store and find a plethora of laptop bags to choose from.

I have gone on a search and found some pretty good options. My favorite is the bag by Hayden Harnett. It’s not stiff like a lot of the laptop bags for women that I’ve seen, and it has a long adjustable shoulder strap.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS Lovely Behati Tote -$458

This supple leather tote is punctuated by bold, logo-etched rivets and soft pleating detail. Menswear-inspired pinstriped cotton twill lines the interior but still looks feminine. The top zip closure keeps your laptop and papers secure.

Celine Springbok Large Tote - $1,750

Yes, it’s more than a bit spendy for a briefcase, but this bag screams luxury. Calf hair with smooth leather trim and an adjustable and removable flat leather shoulder strap with buckles, along with an interior leather-trimmed cell phone pocket, patch pocket, and zipped pocket are the perfect combination of opulence and function.

THE ULTIMATE ULTRAPORTABLE  by

 Zach Hope
10/18/2007 at 16:16
It just occurred to me that with the ever-increasing speed of memory cards, surely this is going to be the way people carry their data around with them in the future. This might not sound too groundbreaking to most people but let me explain some of the implications. Once these flash drives become comparatively fast with conventional hard drives then you can start to imagine some of the possible applications. Just imagine walking up to any PC popping in your memory cards and being able to run from it any of your favourite applications. You would no longer have to carry round your laptop with you, it just a memory cards so long as you would be able to plug it in wherever you ended up.

The reason why this hasn’t happened so far is because of the size of memory cards is limited to just a few gigabytes if you’re lucky. Also the speed of these cards has been a little bit slower than a conventional hard drive. So you could run a large application like Photoshop from a flash drive, but it would probably run a bit slowly. Also, you wouldn’t be able to fit all of your documents and all of your applications on a single flash drive.

This is all set to change however. Although they are in prototype stage, and used in high-end applications such as the military, such wonder drives are now in existence. As you might expect the price of these drives runs into thousands ...
