DRIVING A LAMBORGHINI - AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE  by

 Janette Vince
5/23/2008 at 19:10
Lamborghini Murcielago

Lamborghini is known worldwide for its high-performance sports cars. Based in a small village outside of Bologna, Italy, the company was founded by Italian businessman Feruccio Lamborghini.

Before he got into sports cars, Lamborghini owned a tractor factory. According to the story told by his son, Lamborghini was unhappy with the clutch in his Ferrari 250 GT, and went to Enzo Ferrari with a complaint. Ferrari sent Lamborghini away, saying he should stick to driving tractors, since he couldn’t drive cars.

When Lamborghini got home, he dismantled his Ferrari’s clutch and realized it was manufactured by the same company that manufactured the clutches he used in his tractors. He fixed the problem using a spare part from his own factory.

Whether or not the story happened exactly as told, it’s clear that Lamborghini started his company because he was sure he could beat the competition. He started the Lamborghini Automobili company in 1963, with the Lamborghini 350 GT. The company sold over 130 models after displaying the prototype at the Turin Auto Show in 1963. Lamborghini followed up with the 400 GT and the 400 GT 2+2 in following years. In 1965, Lamborghini produced the legendary Miura-which elevated the company’s name to the heights of Ferrari and Maserati.

Although the cars were soon selling worldwide, the car factory was not completely self-sufficient yet. Lamborghini maintained his successful tractor business for many years after he began producing sports cars. In 1974, however, the company received a setback. Earlier, a South American ...

2007 LAMBORGHINI MURCIELAGO REVIEW  by

 Michael Rad

Lamborghini Murcielago
A century-old tradition in bullfighting is to spare the life of a bull which shows outstanding courage in the arena. Such a bull was Murcielago, The Bat, spared by a famous matador after a breathtaking fight in the arena of Cordoba, some 130 years ago.

Much like the bull that gave it its name, the Lamborghini Murcielago belongs to a special breed of cars. With its 6,5 liter V12 engine, 640 BHP, an amazing 665 Nm torque and permanent 4-wheel drive, nothing can stand in it’s way. 3,4 seconds is all it needs to get to 100 km/h, and if you keep your foot on the gas pedal, it will not stop until you reach a mind-blowing 340 km/h.

But this power comes at a price. The massive 12-cylinder engine requires an average of 21,3 l/100 km, and the car’s fuel tank can carry (only!) 100 liters.

This 2-door, 2 seats coupe with a mid-mounted engine follows the traditional design successfully applied by Lamborghini for more than three decades. The gear box placed in front of the engine, the permanent four-wheel drive, along with the integration into the engine unit of the rear differential, are but a few of the advantages of such a displacement which result in an optimal weight distribution, 58% rear and 42% front, with positive effects on the car’s handling, braking and traction.

The security of the car is ensured by the carbon fiber body, with steel doors and roof, and a tubular frame made from ...

Lamborghini Police Car

These days are very interesting. I can tell you I would like to be a police officer in Italy. Why? Well, imagine that italian state police is using Lamborgini Gallardo. Great, isn’t it?

I know that in some other countries there are also fast cars being used by state police, for example Porsche in Germany, etc. But I think you will agree with me that Lamborghini Gallardo is completely something else, a different league. So let´s have a little look at this police car.

A brand new Lambo was given to the Polizia di Stato by Automobili Lamborghini Spa as a donation. The vehicle has V10 engine producing 500 bhp and has a maximum performance of 190 mph.

The car comes in police colors and of course includes a siren and on the roof there are flashing lights. This is the first time ever that Italian police is using Lamborghini.

This supercar will be using the traffic police - polizia stradale on the highway - probably Salerno - Reggio part in Southern Italy.

It is equipped with technology able to transmit critical situation informations like road accidents, disasters, fires and other similar situations and also it will be able to transmit in real time images and other info and directly connect to the police database for a check of number plates.

There are also a first aid equipments like defibrillator, electrocardiograms, automatic diagnosis of arterial pressure and another one for diagnostication of oxygen and carbon dioxide presence ...

8 FACTS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT LAMBORGHINI  by

 Mads Phican
5/23/2008 at 19:07
Lamborghini, or Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. as it’s officially called, produces some of the most exciting sports cars in the word. Some of the newer Lamborghini models are the Countach, the Diablo, the Gallardo and the Murcielago.

Fact 1: Lamborghini is named after the founder of the company Ferruccio Lamborghini (1916-1993). Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the company in 1963 when he was 47 years old. The factory is located in a small Italian village called Sant’Agata Bolognese near Bologna.

Fact 2: Ferruccio Lamborghini was a successful tractor manufacturer before he got interested in sports cars. His interest in sports cars made him buy many different high-performance cars including both Maseratis and Ferraris, but he was never really happy with any of them and therefore decided to built his own, perfect sports car,

Fact 3: Lamborghini used to be an independent company, but today it is a subsidiary of the German company Audi AG. Audi AG became the owner of Lamborghini in 1998. Lamborghini went bankrupt in 1978 and was sold to Chrysler a long time before Audi AG became the sole owner of the company.

Fact 4: The fastest Lamborghini is the Le Mans version of the Murcielago R-GT model. It has been reported to have a top speed of 370 km/h. The fastest street model from Lamborghini is the Murcielago LP640 with an estimated top speed of 340 km/h. Both of the models have a V12 engine with more than 6000 cc.

Fact 5: Several of the newer Lamborghini models feature the familiar Lamborghini scissor doors ...

LAMBORGHINI JOTA -- THE SHORT BRIGHT LIFE OF THE ULTIMATE MIURA  by

 David Bellm
5/23/2008 at 19:01
The Lamborghini Miura was the world’s first true mass-production, mid-engine super car when it was introduced for 1966. It was a striking blend, offering the styling and mechanical configuration of the era’s wildest, all-out endurance-racing machines, all rolled into a package that was reasonably streetable.

But for all the Miura’s obvious race-car underpinnings, Lamborghini never fielded a competition version of the car. Of course, it wasn’t that the idea of putting its pioneering exotic on the track hadn’t occurred to anyone. Plenty of people within the company hoped they’d eventually be called on to prepare a Miura for such use.

Foremost among those competition proponents was Lamborghini’s chief development driver Bob Wallace. From the beginning, he’d been championing the idea. But resources within Lamborghini were chronically limited in those early days -- the former tractor manufacturer had built its first production automobile just three years before the Miura’s introduction.

Throughout the Miura’s production run, Wallace played with the idea of a racing version. In 1970, this culminated in the Jota, a company-funded, one-off "toy" he built in the Lamborghini shop. The car differed from stock Miuras most obviously in styling revisions that included broader fenders, a prominent front spoiler, air vents behind the front wheel wells, and fixed instead of pop-up headlights.

Beneath the surface were even more extensive changes to the basic Miura design. The interior was completely stripped, and the floor was made of aluminum instead of steel. What’s more, the suspension was modified to accommodate wide wheels and tires, the front-mounted ...

WHAT ARE LAMBO DOORS  by

 Akbar Williams

Lamborghini Gallardo tuned by Hamann

Everyone loves their car; they are always adding new modifications to it to make sure that it stands out from the rest. Many people usually put modifications such as changing the color of the car, adding rims, changing the interior or varying the exterior. One of the most popular additions to the car is that of vertical doors. This article will examine and explain what lambo doors are?

Lambo or Lamborghini doors is the street name given to vertical doors. These additions to cars allow people to open their doors vertically, somewhat like the popular sports car the Lamborghini. These doors usually come in a kit and they can either be welded or bolted on with special hinges. Typically they can be opened at various angles, from 70 to 120 degrees. People love this because it makes their car stand out and gives it a new dimension.

The lambo doors were developed because of the popularity of the Lamborghini motor car. The car is one of the most expensive vehicles in the world with starting prices of a quarter of a million dollars. This price tag makes the car unattainable by many. One of the aspects of the Lamborghini that makes it special is the fact that the doors open vertically. Many people who saw this would want this style of doors on their car. This is what led to the development of lambo doors.

The cost of lambo doors vary, you have some costing from ...

DRIVE THE DREAM! THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO EXOTIC CAR RENTAL  by

 Ernest R Peterson
5/23/2008 at 18:58
Lamborghini Gallardo - Dream Car

Let’s face it guys; we’re not all going to be able to pay for a Ferrari or a Porsche. Despite this may be a sad fact to have to face up to, yet its there nonetheless. At times exotic cars are out of reach for all except for those who are affluent and even they occasionally have trouble keeping up with the payments and maintenance of a Bentley or a Lotus. Sure the allure is strong; simply imagine slipping into the leather cockpit of your Lamborghini and cruising around curves at hundred miles per hour with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face.

Sure you may have everything from your driving gloves to your sunglasses and your driver’s license, though the one thing you wish for is to have enough money for a Lamborghini. And then there’s the Camry or Taurus, which in spite everything just don’t have enough horsepower to take mountain roads at 100, and even though you could get it going that fast it would in all probability fly off the road due to its lousy suspension.

Nevertheless what if you didn’t have the chance to own a Lamborghini or Lotus to be able to drive it around those hairpin turns? Well, nowadays we do have a great way to try out a luxury or high-powered sports car of our dreams, with exotic car rental we don’t have to sell our house or steal one from one of ...

HOW CAN CAR VERITCAL LAMBO DOORS BE SHOW STOPPERS?  by

 Samir Hussain

Lamborghini Diablo
Vertical Lambo Doors as they are referred to majority of the times by many people can truly turn your every day car into a stand still look at it show stopper by converting your cars front doors to open up like a Lamborghini Diablo with a Vertical Lambo Doors kit. The Vertical Lambo door kits were made to really turn your car from a regular car or truck to a Show stopper.

The Vertical Door kits were designed in mind with not only show casing your ride but also with lots of engenerring that went behind it. They have been tested and Perfected for many rides.

The Vertical Door kits were designed in mind with not only show casing your ride but also with lots of engenerring that went behind it. They have been tested and Perfected for many rides.

Its always recommended that you get your kit installed by a professional who knows what they are doing instead of taking the task at hand and doing it your self, but if you feel confident about doing modifications to your car.

They have been designed so that where ever you go and when ever you open your car or truck doors people will notice your car because your car will be something unique because not many people can say about their cars that their car is special because they decided to live by the rule that their car is just another car when truly an automobile is something different ...

THE HOTTEST SUPERCARS ARE MID-ENGINED  by

 Paul Cooper
5/23/2008 at 18:55
Lamborghini Diablo

For ultimate performance, the mid-engined layout is used for supercars - just like it is on racing cars. Typical mid-engined supercars are the Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Murcielago and Noble M400. Mostexotic supercars are also mid-engined.

The mid-engined layout has these advantages over front-engined cars:

There is more weight over the rear wheels, but not too much, so traction is good Because the driver sits in front of the engine, the car can be lower, reducing frontal area and the center of gravity. That means a higher top speed and better cornering. Aerodynamics of mid-engined cars are usually the best Because there is no propeller shaft taking the drive from the front to the back, mid-engined cars are usually lighter than front-engined cars

Those add up to a big advantage in performance. These cars are usually powered by V-type engines, or boxer engines, as these are lower and take up less room than in-line engines.

Gearbox usually behind the rear axle

To get the weight well back, the gearbox is usually mounted behind the rear axle gears as a transaxle. The weight distribution is about 42% front to 58% rear to 39% front to 61% rear. Any more weight at the back upsets the handling balance.

Because the weight of a mid-engined car is concentrated at the middle, there is less force tending to spin the car when it corners than a front-engined car, which is more like a dumbbell. But, things happen faster with a mid-engined car! If you upset the balance ...

CAR DESIGNATIONS EXPLAINED - THE EUROPEAN INFLUENCE  by

 Darren Cottingham
5/23/2008 at 18:54
Lamborghini Diablo
There’s nothing like using the motherland’s terminology to make your car sound like it’s got more class. Of course, you’ll never drive an Aston Martin Black Pudding, but harking back to the gentlemanly days can give a marque some extra kudos.

Shooting-brake (or shooting-break, depending on which country you’re in)

In the 1800s and through to the early 1900s a brake was a type of open-topped horse-drawn carriage of any size designed for hunting. It was designed to carry the driver and a gamekeeper at the front and several sportsmen with guns in the back. Dogs, guns and game were carried alongside in racks. While this sounds like it could have morphed into a mafia-style limo, it’s more commonly used to describe a station wagon, or estate-type of car.

Aston Martin are particularly fond of the term (DB5, DB6, Virage, Vantage, Lagonda and DBS all had the term applied), and it’s been resurrected recently by Audi for a couple of concept cars. Ferrari, Porsche, Volvo, Bentley and even Lamborghini have produced concepts or production cars. Although, anyone trying to shoot a pheasant while hanging out of the side of a Lamborghini would need heat-guided missiles.

Many of the concepts started to look like stylistic hearses. www.shooting-brake.com has a number of images.

Drophead coupe (or drophead coupé)

THE EVOLUTION OF AUTOMOBILI LAMBORGHINI  by

 Paulette Silverson
5/23/2008 at 18:52
Lamborghini Miura
As the story goes, a tractor manufacturer sometime before 1963 went to get service on the clutch of the new Ferrari he had recently purchased and thus began the evolution of Automobili Lamborghini.

Completely insulted by the complaint of the clutch quality, Enzo Ferrari at the Ferrari factory told Ferruccio Lamborghini to go home and drive his tractors because he sure knew nothing about driving cars.

This was the catalyst to set Lamborghini on a path to develop his own sports car ... which he vowed would be much superior to the Ferrari .... and he also vowed he would never own a Ferrari again. He fixed the clutch on his Ferrari by installing a much stronger clutch from his tractor warehouse when ..... upon taking apart the Ferrari clutch he found out it was made by the same manufacturer that supplied his tractor clutches.

After rounding up the men he needed in the design of his new sports car ... he introduced the prototype of the Lamborghini 350GTV in 1963 at the Turin Auto Show with the bull as the mark of his car, the sign of the Taurus under which Lamborghini was born.

Lamborghini produced several models of the sports car through the years until 1978 , when Lamborghini declared bankruptcy as a result of the oil crisis that presented itself in the 1970’s. The Swiss auto company Mimran ran the company while it was in recievership and subsequently bought it... keeping it solvent and producing new models.

It ...
