HERE’S HOW YOU CAN GET MOTIVATED TO EXERCISE  by

 Carolyn Hansen
10/5/2008 at 11:20
A lot of us wonder exactly how to motivate ourselves to exercise...what is this special motivation thing you need to propel yourself out of bed or out the door and straight to your workouts?

The motivation thing is different for all of us, so no one can precisely answer that question. But what is known is that what determines whether you get your workout done or not is your attitude. It is our attitude that determines our level of fitness and it is our attitude that will determine whether we want to sit on the couch or get out to the gym for a workout.

The problem with motivation is that many of us believe it’s something that will come to us if we wait long enough...that someday we will wake up and finally want to exercise. Rather than believe in that fantasy, maybe we would all be better off by realizing that motivation is something we create for ourselves, not something we wait for.

What motivates each of us changes from day to day - what got us moving today may not do a darned thing tomorrow. That means digging deep to find that thing - that thought, feeling, goal, reward, etc. - that gets us moving. Your decision to exercise and be strong and fit isn’t a decision you make once - it is one you make every single day.

Make motivation easier for yourself by eliminating your excuses before they happen.

First, identify the habits that are holding you back from accomplishing ...

2 EXERCISE TIPS FOR WOMEN OVER 30  by

 Jennifer Jolan
10/5/2008 at 11:19
Here are some "MUST KNOW" exercise tips for women over 30. Listen, you’re body is changing. You need to take advantage of anything and everything to stay ahead of the aging process. Use these tips to "CHEAT" your way into a better body in less time with less hassles.

Exercise Tips for Women

1. Do mini-sessions instead of 1 long workout

Your ability to recover from workouts is diminishing with age. It’s much better for you and your body if you reduce your workout times each session. But this doesn’t mean you need to reduce total workout times each day. Basically, the idea is to give your body more rest so it’s fresher and recovers faster.

I recommend that you limit your exercising to 2-5 minutes at a time and do a total of 20-40 minutes daily.

Now, you’re thinking... I don’t have the time to do all those workouts during the day... I’d rather do it all at once and get it over with. Ok, fair enough. But here’s a way you can get the best of both worlds.

You can do this all at once while still working out 2 minutes at a time and getting in 20 minutes of cardio in an hour. How? By using tv commercials.

Watch your favorite hour-long tv shows. When a commercial comes on... exercise. Need exercise suggestions? Ok, try mini-trampoline jumping, bodyweight squats, standing long jumps, standing high jumps, hula hooping, jump roping, and pushups.

Don’t even bother counting reps. Just keep doing the exercise until the commercial is ...

SHED POUNDS QUICKLY WITH LIGHT EXERCISE  by

If you’re one of the millions of Americans that is stuck in the middle of the Battle of the Bulge, you should take a little bit of comfort knowing that you’re not alone. There are tons of people every single day that are trying to find the newest ways and best techniques that will allow them to lose weight quickly and safely as well is allow them to enjoy their quality of life.

Trust me when I tell you, I know exactly where you are. I’ve beat myself up for hours working out at the gym and when that home workout routines that left me with little more than sore muscles and a strong desire to throw in the towel. That is until I found out, that the key to save weight loss is little more than a balancing act.

A good daily workout routine for continued weight loss is one that is filled with consistent motion and a good technique. For instance, it part of your workout is to do crunches you want to make sure to keep your shoulders off the floor and only raise yourself to a 45° angle. Often times, the technique that you use while you exercise is more important than the number of repetitions you do.

One of the best exercises on the planet still has the be walking at a brisk pace. This is far better than running especially when you consider the toll that running has on your knees and other joints in your legs. ...

HOW TO BE MOTIVATED TO USE YOUR OWN HOME GYM  by

Having your own home gym and spending your hard-earned money for it is unfortunately not a guarantee that you’ll be using it faithfully everyday. If you want your home gym to help you achieve your fitness goals, you need to have the right motivators working for you. Here are a few to get you started and help you on your way to physical fitness.

Design it the way you want it.

There were sure to be a few things that you didn’t like in your old gym but had no power to change, weren’t they? But now you have the chance to do things your way! This is your very own home gym after all so whatever you say goes. This is the time to make all the necessary changes to ensure that your home gym is the best place you want to exercise at!

Invite your friends over.

Unless you’ve built an extremely small and literally one-man home gym, surely what you have now can accommodate a few of your friends? There’s nothing more enjoyable than exercising with your friends. Misery loves company, after all, and you definitely won’t mind sweating blood and tears at the treadmill if you see your best friend experiencing the same thing over the weightlifting area of your home gym. After that, celebrate with a delicious but health-friendly meal and you just might have given birth to a new routine for you and your friends.

Read a new book.

You definitely won’t mind working your guts out in your own ...

WHY HAVING A HOME GYM IS BETTER THAN GOING TO THE GYM  by

 Nathalie Fiset
3/12/2008 at 08:15
Is having your own home gym a smart move or not? According to some, the following reasons are enough to convince them they’ve made the right choice.

Choose Your Own Music and Movie

If you’re lucky, each treadmill will come with its own TV and audio set. But in some cases, people would be cycling in one room and required to watch just one huge TV set. Whatever the management - or in some cases, the most assertive - says goes and you’re left with no choice but to go with the flow. The same can be said for the music being played by management for the entire gym. If you don’t like it, there’s nothing you can do but bite your tongue.

But of course, you won’t have to worry about any of those if you have your own gym. You’re the boss, after all!

Choose Your Own Exercise

There are times when you’ll find your gym lacking in equipment. You could always inform the management about it but you’ll still have to wait for some time before they can process your request - if they’re inclined to do so, that is. But with your own home gym, you get to choose what kind of exercise you want to perform. You get to choose which equipment to include in your gym. You even get to choose which exercise videos you wish to watch and follow!

No Need to Travel

The only travel you’ll have to do is from your bedroom to whichever part of the house ...

TOP TEN WAYS TO KEEP YOUR RESOLUTION TO EXERCISE MORE  by

 Nathalie Fiset
3/12/2008 at 08:15
Everyone has a New Year’s resolution, but not everyone can keep it. If your New Year’s resolution is to exercise more often, you might have a harder time than a lot of people in making sure that you stay fit and take measures to exercise in the next twelve months. However, there are ways for you to keep that New Year’s resolution. All you need is some determination, along with the following tips.

1. Start exercising even before New Year comes along. Most people who make a New Year’s resolution to exercise more will often have come in from the cold: they might not have done any formal, routine exercise in years; their only exercise might be the occasional walk to the store to get some milk. If you are one of these people, plunging suddenly into exercise might not be too advisable: you could get tired easily and perhaps even quit after a few days’ worth of workouts.

Instead of exercising immediately, start with small, gradual steps that will eventually build up toward exercising in the New Year. You can perhaps start a few weeks before Christmas by walking around the mall to do your shopping. Or you can even start as early as Thanksgiving by taking a brisk walk around the block after that big feast. Do this regularly, and every day: keep walking, keep a routine, and start off small. Keep building this up so that by the time New Year rolls in, you’re already used to exercising.

2. Keep ...

According to few insulin levels play the largest role in losing weight. Other experts determine that our body type is the key to finding the proper exercises and diet plans that work with the body. Other details are available over the Internet that can help you decide on which diet is best for you, as well as which exercises works best with your body.

To achieve a healthier status and maintain weight diet must combine with exercise, since one without the other will not work. Combining healthy provisions with correct exercises can bring you good health and physical fitness, which will enhance your quality of life. It will also help you keep your body’s zone to a level.

The body and mind is complicated, however both work together to produce results. Many experts, including theorists, doctors, scientist, and philosophers are continuing to find answers to the body’s functions.

Some of the confusion comes when people diet, exercise and take care of them self, yet they still gain weight. Barry Sears wrote a compelling book titled A Week in the Zone, which produced some outstanding advice. Some of the information in the book helps us to decide on exercises and diets that suit us best, since insulin plays a large part in healthier living. The author lets us know that the hormones consequence of intakes of carbohydrates ...
