2009 HYUNDAI AZERA - WHERE LUXURY MEETS AFFORDABILITY  by

 Matthew Keegan
9/21/2008 at 13:55
Just for the record, the Hyundai Azera is not a luxury car. That’s okay with most buyers as the Azera offers many of the luxury appointments of a car in a class above Hyundai, while offering Hyundai value and quality. Loaded to the gills, the Azera is a complete five passenger sedan, stacked with all of the stuff that drivers prize in cars costing thousands of dollars more.

Introduced in 2006, the Azera was the flagship sedan for Hyundai until the Genesis was introduced during Fall 2008. Considered by most to be a premium sedan, the Hyundai Azera’s main competition includes the Toyota Avalon, Buick Lucerne, and the Lincoln MKZ.

Among the improvements made for the 2009 model year is improved steering and suspension, new blue interior lighting, chrome interior accents, a more distinctive chrome grille, redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels and iPod®/USB and auxiliary inputs. An LG in-dash navigation system, introduced during the middle of the last model year is also present.

The standard engine for the Azera is a 3.3L, DOHC V6 that produces 234-horsepower and 226 lbs.-ft. of torque. Optionally, buyers can choose an all-aluminum 3.8-liter, DOHC V6 engine, which delivers 263-horsepower and 257 lbs.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for the smaller engine is 18 mpg city and 26 highway, while the larger engines delivers 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Both engines are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Safety is a key element contained within the Azera as the sedan earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) top ...

KEEP YOUR TEENAGER SAFE BY TRACKING THEIR CAR  by

 Ray E Baker
9/21/2008 at 13:54
We are not living in a totalitarian state, so why would any of us want to track our teenager’s cars? Well it seem that the popularity of fitting GPS vehicle tracking devices to our teenager’s cars is on the rise, sparked by our ever growing fear for the safety of our children.

When your teenage son or daughter first learns to drive, it is an exciting time for them, but not so for us as the parents. Typically most parents find this period particularly stressful due to the increased risk their children face when they start to drive.

A GPS tracking device fitted to a teenager’s vehicle can help reduce the risks they face in a number of ways:

1. Safety - A parent’s biggest fear when their children start to drive is that their child will drive recklessly and put themselves at risk. A young driver is far more likely to take risks on the roads than an experienced driver, and monitoring & logging speed is just one feature of these GPS devices. Statistically teenagers are far more likely to be involved in car accidents than any other sector of the population, due to their lack of driving experience and their lack of awareness of the risks involved with driving a car. When a GPS tracking device is in place, teenagers are far more likely to stick to the speed limits.

2. Cheaper Insurance - One important side-effect of keeping your teenager safer on the road is cheaper car insurance. If they drive ...

HYDROGEN FUEL CAR KITS - BUILDING YOUR CAR TO RUN ON WATER   by

 Samuel Thinel
9/21/2008 at 13:54
If you are looking into the possibility of building a hydrogen fuel car kit and have no inkling of how to do this, then I suggest that you read on. There has been so much buzz going around, especially on the Internet about the concept of converting your car to run on water. Some people hear that and are in disbelief, but yet they want to save on gas and increase their gas mileage and want to know if "run car on water," is a scam or a reality.

In my research, I found a variety of sources providing free information on how to run car on water. The technology basically introduces the idea of creating Brown’s Gas or HHO gas extracted from water to improve the gasoline combustion in your vehicle.

You end up getting improved gas mileage, a cleaner and long-lasting emission system that will cause less air pollution, save you gas and protect the environment. If that is what you are looking for, please continue to read more about this.

DIY Hydrogen Fuel Cell

We all have felt the increasingly agony of prices at the gas pump, a slow and declining economy and the uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring. Oil shortage globally is affecting all of us, but the great news is that there is an alternative solution that some people are scared to consider and that is the hydrogen fuel car kit.

If someone were giving you one million dollars and you were scared to take it from them because ...

SECRETS THAT CAR SALESMEN DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW  by

 Robert Fernicola
9/21/2008 at 13:53
Are you getting tired of getting ripped off by car salesmen? Well it doesn’t have to be like that if you know the secrets to buying a new car at discounts of up to 30% to 50% and sometimes higher.

You may be saying to yourself this can’t be possible but it is. buying a new car is hard on the wallet. Not only do new cars cost more than used cars, but they lose value more quickly too. However by getting a great bargain when buying a new car it won’t make much of a difference how much it loses value.

Buying a new car can seem like a daunting task, one that requires a buyer to ask certain questions before setting out to make such a large financial investment. Dealer financing can be more expensive, particularly for poorly informed buyers.

Dealerships like almost everyone else in the retail business seem to make most of their profit on financing. Dealers will attempt to charge you a higher interest rate by saying your score is lower than it actually is. You can avoid this one by simply bringing your credit report along with you.

Buying a new car has been regarded as a major investment. Owning a new car of your choice not only brings you pride but also enables you to own a car coupled with features that exactly you were looking for.

Buying a new car can be a stressful process, but if you are prepared and have all the information you need ...

REVIEW - 2008 BUICK LUCERNE  by

 Brian Lebow
3/11/2008 at 21:55
We’re on the Road in the 2008, Buick LUCERNE

The Good: Very nice exterior styling, decent list of standard features, good engine options, roomy, quiet and comfortable interior, very safe;

The Bad: Handling is lackluster, and steering is numb.

Overall: The Lucerne is a great looking American made sedan, offering a well designed, nicely appointed, safe and very plush ride. Power: Available V-8 where most of the competition offers V6.

The 2008 Lucerne is Buick’s six passenger sedan, one of Buicks newest models, initially introduced for 2006. Though the name may be new, it picks up where the LeSabre and upscale Park Avenue left off. The Lucerne can be had in XC, CXL, and CXS trim levels. Standard on the XC and CXL is the 3800 V6 which outputs just 197 horsepower. Opt up to find Buick’s 4.6-liter Northstar V8 as an option on the CXL and standard on the CXS, with 275 horsepower it offers plenty of power for the large sedan. The competition has largely moved to five speed transmission, while the Lucerne offers a smooth shifting four speed automatic transmission, standard across all trim levels. The down trim CXL looses the optional V8 this year, and the high end CXS model gets a power tilt-telescoping steering column. Lucerne Super is now available topping the line with increased handling, unique interior and exterior styling cues, more power (4.6-liter V8 outputting 292 horsepower), and other upgrades.

The Lucerne is Buick’s flagship sedan, a large front wheel-drive, four door that is family friendly, a best ...

DRIVE USING WATER - HOW TO HARNESS THE POWER OF HYDROGEN  by

 Carlo Leon Guerrero
3/11/2008 at 21:55
We all know that water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen. Did you realize that hydrogen is one of the most efficient energy sources known to man? Did you know that you can actually drive using water as fuel? Technology today enables us to safely harness the power of hydrogen and use that power to supplement other energy sources.

I can show you today, how you can extract hydrogen from ordinary distilled water; and use it to partially power your car, truck or other vehicles, greatly reducing your dependency on gasoline.

It is not yet possible to power engines using only water but in time that will come to be. But it is possible to drive using water, or rather the hydrogen extracted from water as a supplemental fuel source. So why should you be interested in this technology?

Here are a few reasons:

1) You will improve your vehicles efficiency.

2) You will burn much less gasoline.

3) You will help to improve and protect the environment by reducing carbon monoxide emissions.

4) This technology actually extends the life of your engine.

5) You will save a lot of money.

So, you must be thinking that this technology is some sort of "rocket science" but nothing could be farther from the truth. This is actually a very simple process; and it is not even a newly discovered process; it is decades old. Most people have never heard of this because many companies... think "big oil" companies were determined that this technology should remain hidden so as to protect ...

HAVING A PORTABLE AIR COMPRESSOR AND BATTERY CHARGER IS CHEAP INSURANCE  by

 M Stone Dupree
3/11/2008 at 21:53
There she is stranded alone in the parking lot. Two small children press their noses up against the cold December glass. They’re wondering why Mommy is so upset and why they haven’t started home.

The woman looks around for someone to help. She wonders, "what happened to my car? It started this morning before we went to the mall."

Does this sound familiar to you? It happened to my wife once. It was really frustrating for both of us. I was out of town on business and we had just recently moved to the area and had no one to call.

Fortunately a good Samaritan came by and helped her. She had one of those portable air compressor and battery charger units in her trunk. She went straight to my wife’s car connected the clamps to the terminals and my wife’s car started right up.

My wife went on and on about how neat and compact this device was. I decided to look into it further especially since I didn’t want her to be in this situation again. It turns out that for around $100 or less (depending on what features and how powerful it is) we could keep one of these gadgets in my wife’s trunk. That’s cheap insurance to keep yourself or a loved one from being stranded if you ask me.

There are several different makes and models and may offer different options. Here is a summary of some items to look for:

 Vijayashri Sudhakar
1/13/2008 at 11:27
Driving a car you can be proud of is one thing that a lot of people aspire to do. It was lauded to be a well made econocar during the time when the US experienced an oil crisis. The other American cars in the same bracket paled in comparison to this Japanese made vehicle. IS QUALITY CAR SECURITY A WASTE OF MONEY?  by

 Neil Teasdale
1/13/2008 at 11:26
Unfortunately in society today the chance of vehicles being broken into and vandalized or even being stolen is a sorry reality, although the numbers a coming down, the threat is always there. But we as car owners are still way behind the curve when it comes to the importance of protecting your car or its contents. Even though certain vehicles are more susceptible to being targeted by these criminals we all need to be aware of the threat of car theft.

Every time we park our cars we assume the risk of our vehicle being vandalized or stolen. According to statistics over two million vehicles are stolen annually which works out to a staggering one vehicle every 12 seconds. Car theft has evolved into a multi billion dollar industry mostly controlled by organized crime rings that work together to steal cars and fulfill underground orders for specific cars or car parts. In this day and age a stolen car can be stripped down and have all the parts separated and sold individually to bring in even more money than the actual value of the car itself!

One huge public misconception is that these car thieves are targeting high end exotic sports cars like those depicted in the film, "Gone in 60 Seconds"? If this is you, think again. If you look at the top ten most popular stolen car models, the Toyota Camry and the Honda Accord accounted for the first eight of those spots and Chevy and Ford trucks took the ...

MOTOR - DRIVING IN WINTER  by

 David Collins
1/13/2008 at 11:25
As the winter weather worsens, the likelihood of accidents occurring while driving in difficult conditions is sure to increase.

Icy roads are sure to pose a problem to drivers, even if they have been gritted. If you travel along a main road in order to get to work, chances are that it would have been well gritted the night before.

Winter weather will inevitably lead to an increase in claims, so be sure to shop around for a car insurance quote that suits you in order to prepare for the winter months.

When the weather makes driving conditions worse, it’s vital that you plan your journey well in advance and are well prepared for any possible situation.

By following a few simple rules you can reduce your chance of an accident and avoid any run-ins with your car insurance provider:

* Try and leave a little earlier than you would on your usual routine - whether it’s the school run or the drive to work.
* If you need to defrost your windscreen, stay with your vehicle at all times and avoid leaving the keys in the ignition. You run the risk of invalidating your car insurance if your vehicle is stolen while left unattended.
* Drive more carefully during difficult conditions; leave yourself extra distance between yourself and the car in front in case of sudden incidents ahead.
* When driving on slippery roads, bear in mind it will take up ...

THE EVOLUTION OF THE HONDA ACCORD  by

 Jim E. Harris
1/13/2008 at 11:25
The first generation Honda Accord was launched in 1976 as a two-door hatchback with 68 horsepower (51 kW), a 93. Honda chose the name Accord, reflecting "Honda’s desire for accord and harmony between people, society and the automobile. It has achieved considerable success, especially in the USA, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for 15 years (1982-97), and became the first Japanese-branded vehicle to be manufactured in the US. The Accord became the first Japanese car to be produced in the US in 1982, when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Marysville Auto Plant where cars were produced and exported back to Japan. The Honda Accord has been sold in most automotive markets throughout the world. The European Honda Accord, also made in Sweden, became very different from its cousins in terms of styling, and was also shorter than the JDM and USDM Accords.

The Car

The Accord was originally planned to be a V6-powered car with a long hood and sporty pretensions. Vastly improved quality control, however, made this one of the most reliable cars on the US market, a position it still holds today. This was one of the first US production cars to feature optic reflectors with completely clear lenses on the headlamps replacing the more conventional sealed beam styled lighting. A little-known fact about the 1998 Accord was that it was assembled in New Zealand at the very end of overall New Zealand CKD car production (due to changes in tariffs for car importation in that country). ...

IS MY AIRBAG ON FIRE?  by

 Doug Gan
1/13/2008 at 11:24
Whenever an airbag deploys, the occupants are subjected to an array of chemicals and substances foreign to most people. New information regarding these combustibles is now available. We have learned of potentially harmful side effects as airbags continue to evolve.

Here is some of the information regarding these issues and common misconceptions.

Before a Deployment

This is the most dangerous time to handle an airbag! The air bag inflater cartridges contain an explosive chemical, sodium azide. This is the same chemical used in making solid rocket propellants.

If the air bag has not been deployed, this material can be dangerous to handle. It can explode, it can cause burns if it gets on unprotected skin, and it can severely irritate the lungs if inhaled. These units are sealed from the factory and should never be opened, or tampered with. They are a "replacement only" item.

The danger is amplified if sodium azide comes in contact with heavy metals in the car, such as lead and copper, because these may react to form a volatile explosive

NaN3 + H2O ---> HN3 + NaOH.

But most importantly, when sodium azide (NaNO3)is mixed with water (sweat or tears) it forms hydrazoic acid (HN3)a highly toxic, becomes airborne easily and is potentially explosive. The other byproduct is Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) and this is the one that hurts!

Here is a list of the medical information available regarding Sodium Hydroxide Potential Health Effects

Inhalation:

Severe irritant. Effects from inhalation of dust or mist vary from mild irritation to serious damage of the upper respiratory tract, ...
