SELF GROWTH WHILE THE ECONOMY IS NOT GROWING!  by

 Wanita Bahnsen
9/20/2008 at 20:54
The economy is a reflection of the collective consciousness and a mirror of the natural cycles of life. As spiritual beings we can still grow while the human economy is going through its natural cycle.

Life does go on, so how do we keep focus on love and expansion while the economy seems to be suppressing us?

If news reports trigger a feeling of powerlessness in you, then your first choice is to turn you attention to what you do want to feel and then focus on that.

No one wants to feel powerless so create empowerment in your life first, by choosing how you will feel and what you will focus on.

You cannot look at what you do-not-want, without feeling or contributing to that vibration of what you do-not-want.

Turn your attention away from what you do-not-want and look for the polar opposite thought, feeling and outcome. This will give you a new outline of a story that you can start ’telling’.

Attention=Love - Wherever you attention is, it is equal to the intensity of loving it.

Attention to what is will confirm to you more of what is. Attention to what is will confirm to you more of what is. Are you getting the point?

Subconsciously, we selectively gather evidence to prove our established beliefs. Our beliefs are practiced thoughts.

Our subconscious broadcasts our beliefs through our energy field which magnetises or draw to us people and events that prove our beliefs. If you believe that you will be adversely affected by what others call a ...

4 KEYS TO STAYING POSITIVE IN A NEGATIVE WORLD  by

 Krystal Kuehn
9/20/2008 at 20:53
For centuries positive thinking has been described as the power to change our attitudes, well-being, and destiny. Countless people can attribute positive thinking to their faith and inner strength. Spiritually and mentally they are able to stay focused, hopeful, determined and motivated because of the way they choose to think.

But, how can you think positive when there is so much negativity all around? And, how can you stay positive when your circumstances are bad, or you are going through problems and losses?

Regardless of what is going on around you, there are things going on inside of you. There are feelings and thoughts that you continually experience. They lead to attitudes and actions. For example, if you lost your job there would be many thoughts and feelings associated with that loss. You are not able to stop the fact that you have feelings and thoughts about this situation. However, you do have some control over them. You can choose to think, I am finished. What am I going to do now? I will never find another job that pays me enough to take care of my family. I feel like a loser. Everyone is disappointed in me. Life is so unfair. Why don’t I ever get any breaks? Or, you can apply positive thinking to your situation and tell yourself, I can make it through this. Another door of opportunity will open up for me. I will keep trying until I find another job. I believe in myself, and I can ...

HOW TO OVERCOME NEGATIVE THINKING  by

 David G Johnston
9/20/2008 at 20:53
Many people who are prone to anxiousness have trouble controlling negative thoughts about themselves. Typically their thoughts will often be an imagined perception of how they appear to other people. They tend to have very low self esteem and are shy towards others - particularly those of the opposite gender. They also feel unattractive or worthless and it tends to hold them back from getting on with their life.

One of the many solutions to this is to attend specific counseling sessions on the subject to determine if there is a route cause to this negativity and also to try and get the person out of the cycle of negative thinking. The process becomes habit forming and needs to be broken for the person to move on.

Reinforcement of positive thoughts is a technique you can use to help build your self esteem. It requires the same recurrence to reinforce the good thoughts and thus you must make a conscious effort to carry out the technique everyday. Put it in your diary or add it as a reminder on your PDA or cellphone.

To carry out the technique, pick some things that you are proud of in your life. Find things that your are grateful for. Determine what things you are good at or things you can be positive about. For many people this can be difficult to begin with because they don’t initially see the good points about themselves and this can often be from modesty. So maybe your first positive thought ...

SHYNESS NO LONGER NEEDS TO BE A LIFE SENTENCE  by

 Nick Arrizza, M.D.
9/20/2008 at 20:52
Are you one of those people who has identified themselves, or been identified by others, as being shy?

Does such identification feel life enhancing to you? I know that some of you may have been under this veil for such a long time that perhaps you’ve come to accept it as "who you are" or as " a part of yourself" and feel that is just fine for you.

There are others, I feel the majority, who have felt extremely frustrated by the limitations that such an identification imposes on them, their relationships, their chances of feeling fulfilled, successful and so on.

I myself was labeled as shy in my younger years and felt extremely uncomfortable being in groups with other people let alone speaking in public. I searched for many years for a way out of this mental and emotional prison. Today, not only have I rid myself of this specter, as part of my work I present in front of crowds of hundreds of people on a regular basis and love how alive and energized it makes me feel.

In my journey to freedom some of the road blocks I encountered in myself were commonly held beliefs like:

1. Shyness is genetically inherited hence I cannot do anything about this.

2. There is something fundamentally wrong with me that cannot be changed.

3. Shyness is part of my personality and since that cannot be changed I must accept that this is who I am.

4. Shyness is a very difficult problem to fix that can take ...

EVEN A GENIUS CAN FAIL  by

 Karen Wheeler Hall
9/20/2008 at 20:51
You don’t realize it yet, but in a few short minutes you are going to know what makes a genius tick. First, a simple quiz...which genius made all of the following statements?

* "I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work."
* "Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won’t work."
* "Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
* "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."

Just imagine...what if you had that attitude? What amazing things could you accomplish in life?

Maybe you’re like me. I hate making mistakes, and my natural inclination is to avoid them at all costs!

But playing it safe and avoiding mistakes is not the purpose of life. Where is the growth opportunity in just doing what you already know how to do?

Staying within our comfort zone means stagnation. And that’s not really living. Life is about growing and developing into our full potential. We cannot feel the exhilaration of personal growth unless we are willing to risk some discomfort and failure in the process.

Success and failure are both an integral part of life. Everything we try will not be successful, but we need to keep trying anyway. By doing so, we stretch our ...

POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS HELP YOU CREATE YOUR OWN REALITY  by

 Art Stanley
6/5/2008 at 17:09
Positive affirmations have been around for awhile as a tool for self improvement. Earlier self help authors discussed this technique as a means of shaping the results in your life in a favorable way. Napoleon Hill called it "auto-suggestion". Joe Karbo labeled it "Dyna/Psych". But they were essentially talking about the same thing.

There is nothing complicated, sexy, or high-tech about positive affirmations. I bet that’s why more people don’t use affirmations on a regular basis. They might try it for a few days. But invariably, most underachievers drop this simplistic method, in search of greener pastures elsewhere. Sadly, either that search goes on endlessly, or they withdraw from the process, having decided that the life they have now is as good as it gets.

But positive affirmations can produce terrific results. They alter the internal programming that’s been subconsciously guiding and directing your life.

What are affirmations? They are nothing more than a series of positive statements that represent favorable outcomes. They are designed to shift one’s own self concept. A famous example is Emile Coue’s "Every day in every way, I am getting better and better." Another example is "I believe in myself and my ability to learn new things."

Note that both examples are simple statements. They are stated in the present tense and spoken in the first person. These are key characteristics of positive affirmations. It’s you making a declaration about your desired outcome, and accepting it as your reality NOW.

The examples cited above are general in nature, but you ...

AN EPIDEMIC OF DOUBT  by

 Paul Kearley
6/5/2008 at 17:08
Doubt and despair, like hope, are born in imagination.

~Robert Lynd

It must have been a really good dream, because when I awoke, I was charged with a high level of energy and enthusiasm, and I couldn’t wait to get out for my run. Just from the way I felt, I knew that it was going to be a great day.

Climbing out of bed, I slipped into my running gear, grabbed my stopwatch and stepped out the door.

"I should push myself this morning" I thought. "I want to shave some time off my personal best time for this year so far."

"Thirty six fifty five" I said out loud. "That’s the time that I want for this run." This would be a full minute faster than my best time so far this year for 7.5 kilometres.

And off I went.

After a couple of kilometres, I seemed to be much more winded than I had in a long while: The hills looked bigger and the trail seemed longer. Then my mind kicked in, "Do you really think you can carve a minute off of your time? Does it really matter? You’re tired now; think of what you will feel like in a couple more kilometres." I thought. "Why don’t you slow down now, you know you’re not going to hit that goal, so you may as well just slow down and just enjoy the run. If you were just to equal your best run, wouldn’t that be good enough?"

I was bargaining with myself to lower ...

HOW OFTEN DO YOU SMILE?  by

 Joy Idries
6/5/2008 at 17:08
How often do you smile? Though smiling may be the last thing we feel like doing at times, especially when we are feeling stressed or in pain it can actually do us the world of good precisely at those moments when we feel least like doing so. Just the simple act of moving your facial muscles in a certain direction in preference to another triggers your body in such a way that your whole state of emotion can change almost instantly. All you need to do is be willing to stop taking yourself so seriously and SMILE.

Why don’t you try a little experiment right here, right now. Firstly let yourself become still for a moment. Next take a deep breath in and then allow your face muscles to relax and smile your best smile. Become aware of how you feel, just from smiling. Now frown and feel the shift in your body and in your emotional state. Feel the difference? Motivational speaker Les Giblin said "If you’re not using your smile, you’re like a man with a million dollars in the bank and no check book."

Smile as often as you remember. Did you know that it’s the second most contagious facial expression next to yawning? It will override negativity and open you into a much warmer feeling, something akin to benevolent self-acceptance.

You can laugh on purpose.

Some people find this practice a little awkward because they are used to laughing more spontaneously but actually your body doesn’t know the difference. That’s ...

RATE YOUR ATTITUDE, MAKE IT POSITIVE!  by

 Linda Lin
3/11/2008 at 17:16
Ever notice how those that claim someone is negative are usually the most negative people in the world? The reality of most situations is this, in the words of that old saying, when you point a finger at someone, you have FOUR fingers pointing back at yourself. So, that old saying is something to think about the next time you think about calling someone names or accusing someone of something. So, how do you know what people are really all about? How do you get to learn the truth about people? Are you in confusion about deciding who is a friend and who is not? Many times you might see something and you might pause and wonder if they are really a friend. And as a teen, you might not have the life experience to judge things accurately. Once you reach adulthood, you would have the experience you need, and most times, the easy way to figure things out is simply to observe.

Yes it is as simple as observation. If you want to figure something out, just step back and really look at the situation. Besides using observation, we, as adults have other keys and other tools to use when trying to figure out people or figure out life. These are some of the keys and tools that you can use in your own life to get the answers to the questions you have recently asked:

* First, pause, look around, and observe what is really happening. ...

STAYING POSITIVE!  by

 Janet Angel
3/11/2008 at 17:16
Having some trouble staying positive? It seems that we are all being bombarded lately by the doom and gloom impressions we are filled with daily via the media. If you feel as though your life is on shaky ground you are not alone. People all over this country are experiencing some of the most challenging times of their lives. We have all been hearing about the increase in crimes, deaths, market drops, job losses, illnesses and other catastrophes. Certainly the economic forecast and the Presidential race are foremost on the minds of many people in the US. Gas prices are nearly through the roof with not much daylight in sight for help. Over the last two months I have spoken with dozens of people who are feeling the pressure financially, physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually.

In order to change your current situation - try to determine what most negatively affects you on a daily basis. Although we cannot personally change the whole World, we can change how we react to what comes our way. Here are some helpful hints to help you stay positive during this seeming "downtrend:" Write a daily list of people and things you are grateful for

Keep a Quip book or joke book next to your bed and read a few pages before going to bed and upon waking in the morning. Call or write an email to someone who has helped you and thank them. Be with people who make you laugh or keep you smiling. ...

HOW TO STAY POSITIVE ALL YEAR LONG  by

 Jhanna Dawson
1/13/2008 at 10:13
Ever wonder how ’they’ do it? You know the ones, they are positive, always see the glass as half full, and no matter what the situation, they can always find a positive thing to pull from it. How do they do it? What is different in their day to day thinking that allows them to see the good in all?

I have watched, spoken to, listened to, and studied many leaders, who seem to stay positive, and professionals who make it their business to keep in the right frame of mind. I have pulled some bits of advice and information that is free to implement, and some may even save you some money.

One of the most giving things we can do for ourselves is to discover different ways to stay positive throughout the year. I know there are times when I just feel the weight of the world on my shoulders and, I’ll be honest with you, last year was probably one of the most challenging years I’ve ever experienced. But having these outlets really serves to remind me that, in the long run, things are ok.

So, when I started thinking about this topic, the old saying by Timothy Leary came to mind. "Turn On, Tune In, And Drop Out".

By doing these three things in a variety of ways you really can change your thinking and, truly, your life. I’m going to kind of go out of order with the saying so, Mr. Leary, where ever you are, please forgive me.

I’d ...

HOPE IS THE BASIS FOR A POSITIVE ATTITUDE  by

 Jodi Moscona
1/13/2008 at 10:13
In the parts of Louisiana known as Cajun Country, primarily the southwest part of the state, the word for a gratuitous gift is lagniappe. We call it "lagniappe," when you get a little extra for free like a baker’s dozen (13 donuts instead of 12). Sometimes it’s when a chef puts a little extra in the order "for the baby". Now let me share with you what I got as a little lagniappe this week.

I was preparing to preach on Sunday, August 12, and spent time looking at that day’s reading from Paul’s letter to the Hebrews, Chapter 11: 1-2, 8-19. The lesson is on faith. As I always do when part of a reading is omitted (Verses 3-7), I went directly to that part of the reading . Voila! My lagniappe appeared. In those verses it says, "By faith we understand that the universe was ordered by the word of God, so that what is visible came into being through the invisible." Man! Was I pumped! I have been having conversations with everyone that would listen to me about the power of the subconscious mind. I have been thinking about how it all relates to God and to faith in particular. Then, I find the answer in a letter written by St. Paul to the Hebrews, during the first century. I mean that is before the year 100 AD. You talk about inspiration, well, I got it. So, as you read this newsletter, look for the connection between faith, ...
