GETTING RID OF BAGS UNDER EYES   by

 Samantha Jackson
9/20/2008 at 20:37
Many people have bags under eyes that make them look like they are tired all the time. If that’s something you’re dealing with it’s likely making you crazy. People might be asking why you’re not getting enough sleep and that can be very discouraging. It’s time you learned the facts about bags and how to get rid of them.

First of all, it’s likely that your problem with bags under your eyes started out not being such a big deal. Over time, however, these bags just got larger and larger. They can look very poofy and sometimes dark circles form. This can lower your self esteem, especially if people are always commenting on "your lack of sleep."

There are a few different reasons why this can happen. The most common reason is genetic. If your parents or other family members are always battling bags under their eyes you are a lot more likely to deal with the same thing.

Other factors include:
# Not getting enough sleep

# Eating salty foods

# Having a sinus infection or being sick

Try to determine the cause for you. Sometimes it can be tricky to pinpoint, but knowing the cause really can help you with the treatment.

For instance, if you find that eating salty foods or other snacks makes the problem worse you should cut down on your consumption of those foods. Try to use common remedies such as putting a cold washcloth over your eyelids or using cucumbers.

Even though cucumbers are the classic treatment many dermatologists are starting to ...

ANTI WRINKLE CREAM - THE ALTERNATIVE TO SURGERY?  by

 Marcus Ryan
9/20/2008 at 20:36
Sometimes we think we need more than we actually do. This can hold true in so many areas of life, but particularly as well with our skin.

That is, we think we need cosmetic surgery, some kind of surgical intervention, when often a small fix is all that’s needed. So, for example, instead of a face lift, you might consider Botox, using a good quality wrinkle cream, or having a laser procedure done.

Let’s look at each in detail.

Botox

This procedure certainly has received its share of publicity in recent years. Many women argue that they are "addicted" to the procedure and wouldn’t be willing to let their regular injection of Botox go.

In essence, Botox is the injection of a strain of botulism into the skin. It’s a tiny injection that temporarily paralyzes the face, and gives it a lifted, more firm look.

Botox is usually only performed on the forehead; in that area, it helps to reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles and can give the forehead a smooth, firm appearance.

Botox injections can also be done somewhat near the eye area, and in that area, can help to reduce the fine lines (including "crows feet") that appear near the eyes.

Because the injections are short-lived, those who get Botox must have the procedure done every few months to maintain the look they get from the injections.

Wrinkle creams

It’s no surprise that as many of us turn to more natural remedies for everything from bug bites to our diet, we would also find value ...

ANTI AGING SKIN - TIPS FOR LOOKING 10 YEARS YOUNGER THAN YOUR AGE  by

 Marcus Ryan
9/20/2008 at 20:35
It seems that as women age, we all have roughly the same aging concerns - wrinkles, keeping a trim figure, cellulite, eye puffiness and our general health. Knowing how to deal with each of these can be priceless as we get older.

Let’s look at some ideas for dealing with each of these aging concerns.

Wrinkles

Forget all the hype about cosmetic surgery and other cosmetic procedures. Your best bet is to find a good quality wrinkle cream that works for your skin type.

A good wrinkle cream will provide all the benefits that cosmetic surgery can provide, but without all the risk and cost that comes with cosmetic surgery.

A good wrinkle cream can banish wrinkles and fine lines and provide anti aging benefits in the form of antioxidants and retinol. As well, a good cream will provide the benefits immediately and with no recovery period.

Trim figure

Keeping a slim figure as you age is difficult. Your metabolism changes and it can be harder to keep a trim, taut figure. But you can do it if you keep a good diet and continue to exercise.

A good diet means eating mostly whole foods and avoiding sugars, flours and foods that rank high on the glycemic index. It means eating smaller portions and avoiding binge eating.

Exercise helps to keep your body tones and it can help you rev up your metabolism. Combined with diet, it’s a surefire way to keep that figure trim and fit as you age.

Cellulite

This one affects most of us at one time or ...

WHAT DO KELP AND KERATIN HAVE TO DO WITH NATURAL WRINKLE REMEDIES?  by

 Andrea Marshall
9/20/2008 at 20:35
Can natural wrinkle remedies work as effectively as synthetic chemicals? If properly manufactured, a natural wrinkle cure can be effective and much safer than those synthetic chemicals. It all depends on the ingredients that they include and how they are processed.

For example, keratin and hyaluronic acid are two of the proteins needed to produce new skin cells and grow stronger collagen fibers. Both are found in natural wrinkle remedies, since both of them are naturally occurring.

Most manufacturers use high temperatures and harsh chemicals to extract keratin from animal hooves and other "parts". The process renders the protein "in-active" and unavailable for use by the skin.

A new type of keratin has been found that does remain fully functional and active. It is extracted from sheep’s wool and manufactured using patented processes. Clinical studies have shown that it is an effective natural wrinkle cure that works in several ways.

First, it increases new skin cell proliferation, something that normally slows down with age. Second, it reduces inflammation and redness. Third, it increases moisture content and firmness. And, lastly, the natural wrinkle cure acts as an antioxidant to control damaging free radicals.

More free radicals are produced by older skin cells. Free radicals cause chronic inflammation, damage collagen and cellular membranes. If they get "out of control", they can damage DNA strands, causing changes that pre-dispose the cells to cancer. All of this molecular activity causes the skin to sag and wrinkles to appear.

Many natural wrinkle remedies contain hyaluronic acid, but supplementation rarely works because ...

ANTI-AGING - TIPS TO STAYING AND LOOKING YOUNG  by

 Joe Patterson
6/5/2008 at 19:05
When it comes to staying young, there are no secrets - only common sense and simple things that you can do to achieve longevity. To learn more about tips you can start implementing today for that youthful appearance, keep reading.

Maintain a Healthy Weight

Being overweight is a strain on your entire body. Your heart has to work harder to propel and carry the extra weight, your cholesterol levels increase and your high sugar levels can lead to diseases like Type 2 Diabetes.

Maintaining a healthy weight is a critical part of your longevity strategy, so manage your weight with a balanced diet and moderate exercise.

Be Aware of Antioxidants

Antioxidants help neutralize free radicals, but what does that mean? Well, free radicals are essentially oxygen atoms that have gone awry. Unfortunately, these free radicals are a major cause of cell degradation and a contributor to the aging process along with deadly diseases like cancer.

The human body’s primary source of antioxidants are foods, so stock up on antioxidant-rich products like blueberries, pomegranates, bananas and even coffee. Don’t overdo it with the coffee, though, as its diuretic properties can lead to calcium depletion.

Drink Lots of Water

At a minimum, you should be drinking at least two liters of water a day, which is roughly eight 8-ounce glasses of water.

A dehydrated body is a dying body. Without water your body can’t deliver oxygen or nutrients to its cells. The digestive system shuts down, skin cells stop rejuvenating, resources become depleted and your body suffers as a result. So, ...

HOW DOES SUGAR IN YOUR DIET CAUSE WRINKLES?  by

 Stacey Williams
6/5/2008 at 19:04
Although stress and the normal aging process, did you know that sugar in your diet is a major contributing factor to the appearance of wrinkles? If not, read on! When your body processes sugar through glycation, the result is a build up of advanced glycation end products (AGEs).

These molecules attach to the body and cause the elastin and collagen in your skin to dry out losing their resilience and elasticity. AGEs further cause wrinkles by causing the more resilient collagen (type III) to mutate into a type with a much shorter lifespan (type I). Finally, AGEs make your skin more susceptible to sun damage by deactivating antioxidants.

Since sugar can be found naturally in foods, it is impossible to eliminate it from your diet. However, there are three main ways to limit your sugar intake and prevent wrinkles from marring your youthful skin.

1. Eliminate Extra Sugar

Removing sugar-added foods from your diet is one of the fastest ways to lower glucose levels. There are seven and a half teaspoons in a can of soda, which is close to the daily-recommended intake for sugar in the average, middle-aged woman. This means that if you decide to treat yourself with a chocolate bar at the same time, you are already way over your limit before including any sugars included in your regular meals. Instead of heading to the snack food isle, eat foods that are wholesome and natural to satisfy your craving. It is also important to refrain from adding extra sugar into your ...

TRY THESE ANTI-AGING FOODS FOR A YOUTHFUL APPEARANCE  by

 Bob Cotto
6/5/2008 at 19:04
Today’s society values beauty above intelligence and youth above wisdom. A lot of people look for anti-aging answers in bottles or pills.

Basically a youthful appearance revolves around a well maintained body which involves monitoring of saturated fats, total calories and increasing consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits. Anti-aging strategies include eating less sugar, white flour and salt.

Avocados are an excellent source of vitamin E (for healthy skin) and vegetable fat that reduces high density lipids levels (bad cholesterol).

Berries like blueberries, blackberries and raspberries are an excellent source of the powerful antioxidants, flavonoids, which helps prevent free radical damage in the body.

Other excellent anti-aging foods include cauliflower, cabbage, kale, broccoli, watercress and radishes (cruciferous vegetables). Eat these raw or lightly cooked to avoid destroying important enzymes which help the body combat toxin build up and cancer.

Garlic is excellent. Attempts have been made to imitate its benefits in pill form, however fresh garlic remains the best. A clove of garlic daily (cooked or raw) in a meal helps protect the body against cancer and heart disease. Research shows that women aged between 55 years and 69 years who ate a clove of garlic once weekly were less likely to develop cancer of the colon by 50%. Research in India shows that garlic reduces cholesterol and assists in thinning the blood.

The spicy root ginger helps the circulatory and digestive systems. It is beneficial to elderly people and it is said to lessen rheumatic pains and aches.

Nuts are a good source of minerals and ...

FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH JUST FOR YOU!  by

 Linda Lin
3/11/2008 at 17:08
You have the ability to be as old or as young as you would like to be. You have the power, the knowledge and the ability. And I was watching a television show today called BRAIN FITNESS. It is on Channel 13, and the show is giving an amazing narrative, documentary story about the brain and brain functions. After watching about thirty minutes of this show, my hunches were certainly clarified and confirmed. The more you use your brain, the more use you get out of your brain. The Brain Fitness program, from Channel 13, is this awesome media program that helps you learn how to use your brain better than you normally do. The doctor on the show says that to do the program, you just need access to a computer. I recommend that show if you see it listed in your television guide. (Many times the shows on 13 are repeated during the week).

That means that even people who do not own computers can take part in this positive brain change program.

I have proof of the fact that brain-programming does change your thoughts, your actions and even your success or failures. A long while back I was using certain cassette tapes to program my brain to be positive. I was after a certain goal and my goal required I think certain things. I cooperated with the entire cassette program and I was able to reach all of my goals for that year. I remember the name of the ...

ANTIAGING SOLUTION - THE SECRET TO STAYING AND LOOKING YOUNG  by

 Dean Caporella
3/11/2008 at 17:07
Well it’s official - the secret to looking and staying young is something we continually had drummed into us from the time we were kids. It’s sleep and the truth is, most people don’t get enough of it.

It’s an antiaging solution which is rarely discussed. Well, not as a solution to slowing down the process of looking old.

Antiaging And Lack Of Sleep

Lack of sleep can affect people in several ways. For example, it can impact a person’s facial features, their weight and believe it or not, it can also impact a person’s lifespan.

Sleep has always been a fascination for scientists and research indicates it’s more than just resting one’s body and mind. In fact, that in itself can explain why it’s surfacing as an antiaging solution.

The suggested sleep time a person should get is between 7-8 hours. Less can impact many facets of our existence. Here are just a few:

- Longevity and sleep are related according to research. Related in the fact that lack of sleep can affect a person’s mood, blood pressure and their depressive state.

- Appearance can be affected by a lack of sleep. Sleep is known to be an important time for the body’s repair mechanisms to spring into action. Slumber is a time when the body produces growth hormone to help repair tissue damage. It’s also a time when our body cells benefit through the absorption of blood nutrients.

- Weight gain through lack of sleep is directly related to a slowing down of the metabolism. Combined ...

ANTI-AGING TONER IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR DAILY SKIN CARE ROUTINE  by

 Lisa Lake

Anti-Aging Toner - Not Using One? You Should! It Is An Important Part Of Your Daily Facial Skin Care Routine

Toners are a very important step in a facial cleansing and moisturizing routine, especially as we age.

A toner is to be used directly after cleansing your face to remove any final traces of cleanser, but more importantly a toner, specifically designed for anti-aging issues will return your skin to a correctly balanced PH level. We all have factors that affect our water whether you live in the city with filtrated water supplied to you, or in the country with well water, like me. You have heard of hard water, soft water, iron and minerals in your water, etc. We all disrupt the PH balance of our skin, in particular our facial skin, every time we wash our face. An anti-aging toner will return that altered PH balance back to normal and prepare our delicate facial skin to be moisturized and rejuvenated.

Toner prepares your skin to accept the ideal amount of moisturization to achieve the maximum benefits after usage. Moisturized skin will look visibly smoother, firmer and younger. As we age, our skin actually loses its ability to hold moisture at a rate of 6% every 10 years. This causes our skin to sag, droop, look dull and lose that supple appearance we had in our 20’s. Our elastin and collagen production also slows down a whopping 65% between the ages of 20 and 80. Fortunately though, this only accounts for ...
